looks like a victorian baby coffin, i would throw it up on ebay for $2500.00 obo, expect to sit on it a while, but the right buyer will eventually come along. saw one sell on auction with liner in better condition years ago for 5000+

Yes that is interesting.

How old do you think it is? Can you determine the age by they manner of which the wood planks are joined? I don't think I have seen that joint type before.

I can tell you that the corrugated wood fasteners used in the joints were not patented until 1916. https://www.google.com/patents/US1262839 The joints looks like a version of rabbet joint to me.

You could also try Jack Mord of Thanatos Archive or Art of Mourning (an Instagram account with a large following), they specialize in antique postmortem photography and mourning jewelry, respectively, but could at least point you toward the right buyer. There is definitely a market for this stuff.
