more Ebay problems

Creeper, don't pay any attention to that dude, he sounds like their spokesperson. ::) ::) ::)
Unfortunately Ebay/Paypal (Ebay owns Paypal) has implemented another rule that will discourage new sellers or future sellers from using their website. Kinda stupid in my opinion, but it is what it is no matter how asanine it may be. Here is a "for instance," Say I buy an item from a relative new seller on ebay (such as yourself) whos funds are being held for 21 days. You ship the item, I receive it. I file an item received not as decribed case against you, ebay/paypal refunds my money before I even ship the item back to you. Now I have my money and the item for free. Sounds like an opportunity for scamming to me. I bet it has already been done to numerous sellers.

Even though they claim it is ebay and not them (incestuous bed partners), here are the paypal policies/excuses for holding your money-https://cms.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/?...ID=security/ebay_payments_learn_more&fli=true

and some faq's regarding the same-https://cms.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/?cmd=_render-content&content_ID=security/paypal_holds_faq

I hope eveything works out for you and even though I sell on ebay doesn't mean I like them or their policies, nor do I have to. Personally, I hope this opens them up to an anti trust violation that will include a class action lawsuit aginst them by sellers such as yourself.
What you wrote about scamming, I was scammed twice..

he doesn't care until he is the one in need of the money then he will change his mind very quickly

I really don't care to called their spokesperson when most everything you posted was the same things I found out and tried to explain but didn't inculde the links like you did.
Don't worry about replying to this post. Others can clearly read what I said and why I said it. Also why these new rules are in place. If anything you backed up my point with the proper links and for that I thank you for helping out. I still think they could have found a better way myself. Just because I'm not effected doesn't mean I don't care. And many of you honest members are really taken back by the stupid new rules. Funny thing about this, I never been judged so serverly and called anything like an eBay spokesperson before for saying the same things you did. Oh well, I'm good with that because it closes this issue. I hope everybody else knows now. Woodstock

sorry for your hassles,
i dont know your living or famlly situation but this was on Brian Williams show mon night on Rock center, they are paying some good money in ND in the oil fields and to all the industries that support it. restaurants paying $15 hour ,trucking jobs with starting saleries at $80k, alot better than the $7 and change

http://rockcenter.msnbc.msn.com/

Rob, very sorry to hear about the funds block and fully understand your emotion. I too use to sell alot on fleabay and done very well. but than I got robbed through a fake identity scam through paypal and had to bring my attorney into it to get my money back. I will no longer sell on Ebay and if I buy, it will only be with a carbon receipt money order. I always ask the seller before bidding if they will accept the money order and never had a problem with that.
Paypal to me is just another 3rd party that wants to be paid that I can live without.

Bill

I have been on the fence about selling on ebay and you guys are scaring me off. I don't think paypal is completly wrong to hold money in an account but seems to me they would have to pay interest on the money. Keep track of how much they hold and for how long because if they do get caught at this that is what you will be owed. Of course class action lawers will get most of it.

I got hit with this back in August. I kept looking on here to see if anyone else did but didn't see any comments about it. I figured because I was relatively new (got little over 100 transactions) and I got a negative feedback (that Ebay wouldn't remove, even with comments that he sent about wanting compensation from me for his time, after I reimbursed him, his postage and gave him postage to mail it back to me ... and after I got it, what he claimed wasn't true). What bothered me that I was hit out of the blue with it. It caught me WAY off guard. I would sell things, take the money out and buy more things and pay some bills since my job was in a slow down.

I understand their decision why they do it ... don't understand the criteria why it is still on my account and they won't tell me why ... but it is still the best option out there for resale. Don't be scared out of using Ebay ... I have made some great percentages on what little time and items that I have bought. Work is picking back up so I plan on, if I can arrange the time, to kick it up a notch. Some great money can be made out there!

I wonder what their excuse would be if for example you are selling junk silver coins with a no return statement

I guess he picked up all his toys and went home. Must be an only child. :laughing7:

Yes I did. I'd rather sit back and read the new ones then be constantly attacked by you for posting the logical reasons. In the beginning I told you their reasons and you badgered me for being able to read them and understand them. And I even had a change of heart about it the hassles it has caused all of you. But that wasn't good enough for you and you just kept up attracking me. And then when someone posted links for the reasons for all to read I was called a spokesman for ebay, very rude and uncalled for. When I pointed out those reasons and they where explained by me the first time. And not all my posts where deleted, the important ones are still there in blue shading for anyone to read.
My posts were not meant to be harmful, but meant to be informative. So I got tired of being your victim and the center of your anger and removed the majority of my posts. Now you can find another target to vent your anger on. However, I still understand how you and everyone else feels even though it means nothing to you.
Respectfully, Woodstock

See what I mean? You have no reason to say this and you won't stop. If anyone is acting like a kid it's not me. But I do see a lot of Bully's here. Go a head and say what you will about me. All it does is reflect back on you. Others see it too. Woodstock

Since i'm the one who replied negatively against you, i'll remove creeper's quote from your's.

Your right. I'll stop the smart azz comments against you. I don't think your a bad guy, I think it's just the verbiage you choose to use most of the time. It has a tendency to rub some people the wrong way. I publicly apologize if I offended you in any way. I will reply honest and openly though if I disagree with your choice of words in future posts. And... I promise I won't delete this post.

Thank you diggummup and I accept your apology. And I do at times rub someone the wrong way, we're all guilty of that from time to time. But not once did I call anyone names and the worst thing I said in my own defence was Boohoo. I never called anyone a eBay spokesman or some of the other name calling I had to deal with. And I publicly apologise to anyone if I offend them as well. I look forward to your replies to anything I post, good or bad it makes no difference. That is what a thread discussion is all about and I wouldn't respect a person if they didn't speak their mind. Freedom of speech, ain't America great !
And we both agree that this thread got out of line and went from discussion to bashing, and we're all better than that.
So thanks again for your apology and from now on let's call us by our membership names even if we disagree. Happy Trails, Woodstock

Here's a nightmare for ya

Sold 1000 dvds for $1200

Delivered dvds all with delivery confirmation and insured , buyer says not as described , paypal / ebay holds the funds , I agree to refund upon return of the items ..I get one box back with 200 dvds ..that aren't what i sent and have the area code on the movie gallery stickers from buyers area.. he puts his return tracking into the system ..bam he's automatically refunded the $1200 ..I'm out $1200 and 1000 dvds and stuck with box of crap as pie in the face. Call paypal and try and get answers and they ask me for tax id # , receipts for last 5 items sold , a bunch of different stuff they wanted info on that had nothing to do with my call ..something about being over 200 sales & 20,000 in sales ..

Have gotten absolutely nowhere with them. Had 255 positive feedback and 100% ...and just have given up and let it all go to crap cause really what can I do ??? They so big you can't fight them. Call the police and they tell me to consider it a loss.

It's gotten ridiculous. It use to be a good way to make extra income. Now it's a good way to get robbed. Seller on ebay doesn't have a leg to stand on no matter who you are or what your record is.
Your rear over barrel whenever someone decides its your turn.

Is amazon any better at protecting sellers then ebay.

How does one return a small fraction portion of the original weight shipped and get refunded completely. Postal receipts clearly say 200+ lbs sent and only 63lbs returned ...I mean come on now ..it not rocket science.

Still having hard time swallowing this ripp ..and it not the first time I been taken but it the last I know that much.

Wow, that WAS a bad one. I'd press the issue. I'd send them a message, call them, bother them every spare minute I had, at least once a day. Tell them you are about to open a court case against them. You can, and you will win if you have kept your records about the transaction. All you have to do is file a case. Here it costs $45. They get served, they pay you and reimburse your costs for filing a claim because they know they won't win in court and they don't want to be bothered with it for $1200 anyway.

That blows. My girl and I make our living from Amazon. They have the same tax rule now, but are great to sell for. I even have them dropship my stuff, and if I get a negative feedback on their end they remove it. Amazon is the best place on the internet. I tried both almost 10 years ago, and Ebay was just so much work, and i didn't like the fees then.

I'd fight tooth and nail on those dvds.

Brian, tell us more about Amazon. I sold a few things there, but not much. I thought I heard their tax rules were lower? Seller's get virtually no respect or support from EBAY!!

I found this today while looking at Ebay return/buyer protection policies-
If we resolve an item not as described case in the buyer's favor, we will in most circumstances ask the buyer to return the item to the seller before we refund the buyer and try to recover the refund amount from the seller. In those cases, we'll ask the buyer to promptly provide a shipping tracking number to us. For items valued over $250, we'll also require the buyer to provide signature confirmation. Return shipping will be at the buyer's expense. It is the seller’s responsibility to maintain a valid and current return address on file in the seller’s eBay account to facilitate the return shipping. Once we have confirmed that the item was returned to the seller, we will refund the full cost of the item (including any applicable sales tax) and original shipping to the buyer.

So my question to you would be- Did they use signature confirmation on the return? Did you file an appeal yet? You only have 45 days.http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/buyer-protection.html#conditions1

As an eBay Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
I had to dig up the box just to see ...and No they did not use sig confirmation they used delivery confirmation ..The order was sent in 5 good size boxes and I got only 1 in return. Paypal/Ebay already took the money from my paypal account and refunded the buyer because it was shown as returned. I have to look into filing an appeal but it all is just a complete waste of time. If calling them and them seeing on the screen for themselves what has happened then how is filing an appeal going to do any good ? They just puttin me off on the phone ? If they are a banking institution and a customer calls and complains shouldn't there be action ? I had it happen some yrs back with game used sportscards, wasn't quite as high amount but it was enough of them in weight that a returned brick was almost the exact weight. Got took to the cleaners on that as well ... but for as much as I've lost on ebay, it's still the best place to move bulk size lots of anything ...can't do that on amazon and there lies the problem. Who has time to sell individually ? such a grind ... I should file an appeal yes ..but the stress it creates out weighs any gains when I've already reserved myself to just being done with them finally. With them coming down for the govy on everyone it'll just be a matter of time before the weekend flea markets be bumpin again like they use to could.
