MORE CRAZY OLD BUCKLES FROM 17TH CENTURY RIVERSIDE SITE!

Cross Potent where in ell do you keep finding these nice relics must be one hot spot. Man they are nice! vanzutphen

This 17th century site is a special place that should produce a few more good finds. I havent yet gotten to a point where I'm struggling to find signals. That takes a special spot - to produce hundreds and hundreds of diggable targets. Only have a precious few around these parts which date back so far. Most of the really early sites are just small spots which produce a handful of targets.

CP you've got some great sites and you have a real chance of finding a killer early silver to go with all of those great relics. I hope that happens bud

Thanks. Wouldve thought this site would produce a few more early silvers. Maybe!

Really nice assortment of buckles that you've got from the site, keep it coming.

We've spent about 15 hours here now but the finds are still coming (can only hunt half days due to obligations). I got a rosette buckle and the heart spectacle which I have never found before. Sure, I wish they were whole but just finding them in the USA is tough enough. I did get the other odd buckle which is another I have never found. Not only have i never found one but I haven't seen another quite like it. All show evidence of being tinned. I can probably take a dremel tool and knock off some of the light corrosion from this full oddity piece. Also got the piece of trapezoid and whatever the other style is. Another 1670s Charles II farthing came out as well. Was so happy that my wife found several 1sts. That doesnt take much because she rarely ever goes. lol

Still pulling goodies from here and I'll bet more goodies come out tomorrow!
This one is a bit similar to yours, just a bit more detail.

Most everything is 1670-1730. HOWEVER, we discovered a brick foundation several hundred yards away that could be the source for some newer items. I did get an indian head penny and a flying eagle from here but the brick foundation MUST be the source. I suspect the foundation dates back to the 18th century and most likely the earliest part of it was built with the bricks from the site I am now hunting. Here are some pics of the foundation and then in the last pic shows my real old site I'm now hunting against the distant pine trees. Behind the pine trees is the river. Speaking of PINE TREES, WELL, I GOT SOME CUT MASS SILVER OUT OF THIS BAD BOY TODAY. I HAD AN INSANE DAY!!! VERY HAPPY! Will post up some pics later.

That's some great looking buckles! Like to see the coins too. Can't wait to see what you got today!! HH!

Man those buckles are killer! They don't get much earlier here in the US. I'm curious what type of buttons you dig along with buckles like that? I'm sure you find pewters. How about nipple buttons? Were they using spun back tombacs during that time period? The earliest sites around here only go back to the mid 1750s.

Im currently working on a kick butt post right now. Was going to wait until i got a few more hunts in but pretty excited about the finds today. Yes, got 2 nipple buttons today. One cast pewter and the other cast lead as far as I can tell. Both with shanks. Stay tuned! Oh yeah, got 4 more coins today, newest 1717!
