With over 340 years of rich history, Pennsylvania is scattered with creepy and abandoned places to explore, from ghost towns to secluded cabins in woods.
01:24 Jacob Minshall House. This 373 acres land was sold by William Penn to English Quaker Thomas Minshall in 1684. The house was built in 1711 by Jacob Minshall, a son of Thomas Minshall, as home for eleven generations of the family. This two storey house stays abandoned since 1944 (or 1946), but looked pretty intact and even had wood shingle roof two years ago. Now nature is turning these rubble stone walls into overgrown ruins. In this thesis, I found the history of the house: Preservation in Ridley Creek State Park. Documentation of Historic Farmsteads. A Thesis in Historic Preservation by Jeffrey Robert Barr.
06:14 Mullen House located in Ridley Creek State Park, Pennsylvania. This old house ruins tucked in the thicket were last occupied by the Mullen family in the 1960s. They left the property when the park land was acquired from the estate of Walter M. Jeffords Sr. and his wife Sarah. The house is located in thickets behind historic Cow Bridge in a few hundreds feet from the closest picnic area.
08:55 Creepy garage with disturbing noose and historic abandoned house. Don’t know if I manage to find anything interesting in that area, but according to 1906 maps, there were some structures of unknown purpose. Probably, old farm houses. Of course, as it often happens, the abandoned structures are hidden on swampy overgrown land, just a bit off the nearest highway. However, the exhausting hike to this forgotten location was worth it.
