I advise everyone to do a missing money search. You can just Google your state and the term abandoned property. I was working with a client's son to help his girlfriend locate a brokerage account that belonged to her deceased grandmother. We found the account easily in the NJ state abandoned property database (nj like many states outsources this to a third party). For kicks, I ran my own name through the database and was suprised to find three entries because I couldn't imagine that I had forgotten about any money. I filled out the forms last month and did not really expect to get anythibng. Well I got the first check today -'-- $2,230.00 from Vanguard. I'm keeping fingers crossed on the others. Let us know if you find anything.....I'd be curious to know how it turns out for others.

Nothing for me, damn it, but did find a small amount for my sister. Not sure she will follow up on it, but pretty cool.

Been there done that, no such luck, lol. IRS would end up getting it anyway, damn thieves.

Funny thing is i did a search for my state and it came back nothing. But i know for a fact that a previous employer sent my last paycheck to them about a year ago lol.
