Misc data and adventures of a Tayopa treasure hunter

T hey recently foud a Dutch man=o=war just off of the coast of a major port on east coast, Dutch ships were certainly not welcome in spanish ports, dated to the 1700's. Do ya spose it had anything to do with the Jesuit s plot to take Norh America away from Spain in the 1700's,

A good question, Joseph. But the reports I'm getting say the cannon from the warship are more likely 19th century....which would be a little late for the Jesuit plot.

And then there was the time my uncle and a couple of friends went to Georgia hog hunting. Far off road where they parked, as they were walking they came upon a still. Luckily, no one was there, and the shine was bottled in 55 gallon drums. So they rolled one back to their truck and fashioned a ramp to load it. They brought it back with them when they came, all the way back to Pennsylvania. They crossed 5 state lines with that barrel of shine. It was the smoothest I have ever sipped. It tasted like water, almost, but then when you went to stand up it was game over. You would always hit the floor like a sledgehammer. OH, and for all you adventurous guys out there, I noticed Amazon has a new book on their website, "how to enter a moving vehicle with a parachute". Sounds like fun, just not my cup of tea. Although it is one of their better sellers. keep warm and Good Luck. rockhound

On second thought....what the heck was a Dutch Man-O-War doing off the coast of the Yucatan in the mid 1800's? Maximilian?? Hmmm..... ???

DIT< for the first tme in years you made a mistake. It says 18'th century Dutch, and a !9 century British war ships,Fill im an extra dance for me.

I see mixed information in their report, at the very beginning they say: "Remains of a 18th century Dutch warship" which would be a 1700's warship, while at the end they report it as " “bear a resemblance to the artillery of the Dutch war frigates that sailed the West Indies in the 19th century,” which would be from the 1800's. Sounds like our local weatherman is also doing writing in his part time. ??? :dontknow:
Geez, I see that Don Jose is still FAST ! He replied before I was able to. :notworthy:

Wouldn't be the first time, Jefe, as you well know. And I'll put you down for the extra dance.

This is what I was referring to in the reports....

" The cannons, which measure almost half a meter in diameter, “bear a resemblance to the artillery of the Dutch war frigates that sailed the West Indies in the 19th century,” according to archaeologist Helena Barba Meinecke, head of underwater archaeology at the SAS. "

Will have to dig a little deeper to find out on this one.

Ha! You beat me to it, Simon. :icon_thumright:

Somewhat of a contradiction, isn't it.

Sometimes "Life" seems to be a contradiction.................

Only because we make it so, my friend. Life is not the sum...but the process. We can either let Life define us, or live every moment like the gift it is and define ourselves. The choice is Ours.

actually you are a good looking ole boorger Mikel.

Jose, those pictures have aged a little bit. I have lost a fair bit of weight, and more than a fair bit of hair since they were taken.

But, thanks all the same!

There’s no telling what they will find, if they keep digging!

Maybe one of those ancient Chinese Ark’s.... from around 2000 BC.

Nah, they found that buried on Oak Island, you didn't get the memo ?:tongue3:

Please excuse my interruption here, but I know Don Jose and Oroblanco have weighed in on the subject matter before, but the other night on the Discovery channel, ( I believe ), they had a couple investigators looking around the Michigan area for Atlantis ? They seem to claim,( or think ), it is in the continental United States. I have never read anything like this. I thought I had heard all the theories and this comes along. Still trying to find the show to see who these guys are and what the show is called so maybe I could avoid it in the future.
Again, sorry for the detour.

Sounds more like mortars than cannons. Used for shore bombardment, rather than shooting at another ship. IMO of course.

Simon,
atlantis is exactly where it is supposed to be, off the coast of Spain. It was on / is on the African plate which was subducted byone of the others'

One of Amazon's better book sellers. How to enter a moving vehicle from a parachute. Must be many daredevils or adventure seekers out there. Naturally it would require a pickup truck or a convertible to do this. Good Luck. rockhound

I saw that done back in 2003 while watching Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life . :coffee2:

Well, I agree somewhat with you only because I was too young to be there. :notworthy:
I'am still looking for that episode I saw. The two archaeologists on the hunt looked real familiar. Almost like they were on a segment of Oak Island or something similar.

Hope all is well Don Jose, did you give your dove a Christmas present ? I could send some night-crawlers or is she a vegetarian ?
