Treasure is found in many forms. Today it was a mink on the side of the road. This is my 8th roadkill this season. The rest were 1 gray fox, 2 fisher, 3 raccoons, and one opossum. I had planned on skinning the mink to sell with the others, but my wife wants to get it mounted. The rest of the fur will hopefully pay half the price of a CZ-21. One hobby, paying for the other. :headbang:

I realize many folks here may be sensitive to the sight of a dead animal, but realize I'm utilizing an already dead roadkill that would be wasted otherwise. If it wasn't for my wife asking to mount it, I would expect somewhere around $20-25 for the pelt at the auction.

Sweet, we have more coons here in Montana than they know what to do with! Have thought I may need to run a line for a couple of years, the fur up here is just killer good! The yotes have been really good!

If you realized that fact, why post a photo of a dead animal here? This photo needs to be taken down ASAP. Picking up roadkill has NOTHING to do with treasure hunting at all.

You find a $25 bill laying on the side of the road, and I guarantee you'd post it.

We have a lot of skunks killed by cars....I don't think I'll be picking any up though, Lol!

FreeBirdTim- there are all kinds of treasure, people hunt a lot of different things and it is valuable, counts in my book!

That mink has some really good color, your wife has good taste. You should have it mounted on a piece of driftwood. :icon_thumleft:

The smell may be bad but I remember getting $6.00 apiece, and harvested 200 for a profit of $1200. By the way, this is the time of the year that the mating season begins and a lot of skunks get killed on the roads.

For pity sakes! He found something laying on the ground and he didn't even have to use his metal detector! :laughing7: lol!

I passed up three skunks today on the road, I may go back and get one of them. I skinned 40 last season for just under $200, and sold the essence for a bunch more. Besides picking up prime roadkills, I trap nuisance animals for a living, all year long (note the cages in my truck).
FreeBirdTim is actually in my customer base area, lol.

Sorry if you're offended Tim, but, in my mind, anything of value is treasure. By the comments so far, I don't think I'm alone. Thanks all.

On your side 100%. I trap, and that right there is treasure to me!

That looks like one "tired" mink .. Thoroughly "exhausted" so to speak.

I'll be sure to pass that along to my 6 year old niece, who cried when she saw the photo. What's next, some graphic photos of the deer you ran down with your SUV?

Sorry, but just because you can make money off of it doesn't classify it as "treasure".

Maybe I should post my "treasure" find of six illegal minnow traps that I found last year. That was a great find. Too bad they ended up as scrap metal...

So, If I get you right, you knowingly possessed not one, but six illegal traps, then benefited financially from them? Then posted it on a public forum?

I am glad you took the time to scare your 6 year old niece with a picture you find offensive. Stop using a child as a shield against something you fail to understand. People that use children as a shield or example for something they don't like have a huge insecurity issue. Stand up for your own issues. I can guarantee you couldn't stand up to anyone in a real debate about anything in person with a attitude like yours.

They were illegal because some lowlife placed them in the Scituate Reservoir. The traps were legal to own, so I wasn't in possession of anything illegal.

As for the financial gain nonsense, I never stated that I sold them. I destroyed them and threw them in the trash.
