Miner's hut of the Gully of the Orb Weaver Spider

Hi all, With early Autumn here the insects are crazy and some of the local spiders have weaved huge webs between trees. Mostly Orb Weaver spiders and they quite large. This location is one of my new sites. Small mining settlement deep in the forrest where even 4x4,s cannot go. Very unstable ground from a 100 years of mining. Spent a few hours over this month in the area and have a few beat up silvers and few relics. Mostly common finds but nice to get out.

Hey Tinpan.....good to hear from you. BUT.....where's da gold?
Good bunch of older coins. We here in S. Korea have found about 4 bunches of tailings......probably from the
Japanese mining operations. Are going in with our smaller gold bug units, to "inspect" the tailings. Hope to
show some of the gold stuff that you show so well. Be careful of those spiders.......we got those bad boys,
too. Got bit by one of them......mmmmmmmm not fun.

Nice bottles Tinpan and those silvers are always a jaw dropping treat. Make sure you're not bringing home any hitch hiking spiders!

Hi there Tinpan , always enjoy your post ,.. quit educational ... !
Now , I've never been a big spider fan ,. and its been said that I will get in touch with my feminane side when when I encounter such a bugger ,... apparently ,..I scream like a lit" girl ,well so I'm told ??
I grew up in Alice Springs in the N.T. and I had a few "run-in's" with this spider or it's cousin ,.. we called them "Golden Web Spiders" . As the name implys this spider spun a "golden" coloured web that was often 15 ft. [4M] across or more !!They are a tough and sticky web able to catch and hold small birds .Anyway,. it was always good fun when out on the bikes and someone ELSE would run though one of these web's . Typically , the entangled fellows mates would call out "Crikey Mate !! That big bugger just when down your Collier / up your sleeve !!"..... ,..Yeah my mates could scream like lit" girls as well !!.. This I Know !!
