Found this in Michigan. I found one big piece, and four smaller pieces. The four smaller pieces are identical. All five pieces have the American eagle, the eagle is facing his right, toward the arrows. Around the eagle there are 18 stars, but on the smaller pieces there are 20. The shield is the same on all, and I can't find a picture with that shield design. Not sure what kind of metal it is... A magnet wont stick to it, and it almost has a gold-ish color to it. (It's not gold though)

I did my best with the pictures.

That eagle is the same as on the general service US buttons from 1875-1902. Here is the button. Note prominent shield and long neck on eagle.

That's a good date range. These belts were popular with women in the 1880's up to maybe 1910.
