did u make a profile just to say that...anyway why should this thread be closed is it because im australian. :P

I would suggest that you go to the "Clubs and Friends" section on this site and see if there is a club in your area. If not on this web site( which is the best I've been to) maybe on another. Get involved with a local club and I'm sure some seasoned MDer will take you under his/her wing if you show the right enthusiasm and interest in an effort to expand the hobby.

Yes.

it was a Newbie, who has never posted here before.
Most likely unaware how we do things.

Personally, I would be offended if anyone censored you because you were from Australia...or Lithuania, Iran or anywhere else for that matter. There is far and away too much of such stuff in the world already than to have it here. Our brother and sister detectorists from Oz are some of the most welcome folks I know!

But a larger issue looms - one that may add a life lesson for all. Im speaking, of course, of this:

"If you want something, really want it, there will be a way. It may not be easy or always convenient, but it exists."

In fact, no small number of ways have been presented, and it is only for you to open your mind and apply one or all of them, mate.

I would agree with the others, get in touch with a local club (if there is one in your area) and talk to some people with more experience, if your are lucky you might even get the chance to try his/her detector. Get as much advise as possible and then
'get out', and get one! ;)
http://www.riverland.net.au/treasurehunters/ <---- Drop by here, I went out to look on some for you..
http://metaldetecting.meetup.com/ <---- I'm not sure but might be helpfull..

Hope it helps ;)

actually I don't think it was anything to do with where he was from.
it was just a sarcastic remark.

As for where anyone is from, I agree.
I hope were all beyond politics here
In the Great Country of TreasureNet ;)

When money is tight, money is tight......but do yourself a favor and listen to the advice of waiting. You're going to use a detector 3 times in 3 weeks. That is $90 you can at least get a BH 2200 for or whatever else is out there on Ebay, etc. If you are really strapped for cash, save $60 and get the best detector $60 will buy you and some rechargeable batteries. You will detect and eventually bring back some money and continue saving for an upgrade, trade, etc. There is no way on planet earth, unless you find a really valuable coin, or item, that you are going to find $30 in one day. $3 dollars in clad can translate to anything from 12 holes if you find 12 quarters to a more typical 30 or more holes dug in one day. As someone said here earlier, you will feel ripped off at the end of the day. Here and there you will find a something beside clad and junk, but those are usually spaced out far apart. Your chances of running into that each and everytime you go out there are very slim to none. Learn to save your money.........and learn patience. You'll need it in this hobby.

yea thanks all for your opinions, i think i will just wait to buy one next year.

and i was being sarcastic about the australian comment.
