mazon fossils in Illinois

id like to goto the Mazon creek area in Illinois to look for fossils. ive pulled up just about all the info i could find but what i need is,where can a man and wife go to dig/look for these. is there a pay to dig location? if so what town? this is up west of Chicago. if anyone knows anything about this area, I.E. pay to dig places or any public land where my wife and i can dig for 1 day,could you give me some info? please!
