Holy cow!
Very nice.
I agree with CC Hunter-please look into how to best care for that beautiful relic. You may never get another of those.

Do you remember where that one hit on the VDI?

Palmetto
hey palmetto it hit off at 72 and stayed solid

Nice Find. Marylands Eastern shore has some very good history. I know I detect it all the time live here. Right before the 4 of July last year I dug a 1793 Chain cent from the shore. Grats on a Banner find and if you ever want to hook up and detect let me know. I go all the time. You find any reale's or old silver from the farm yet? I'm sure there are some there. :icon_thumleft:
I have found some at a site I came across in the field. Not sure what was there but I have found as of now 30 hoop buttons,12 round lead shot balls,a 4 reale 1757,1/2 reale 1753,and one that I think is a 4 reale that has been cut in a 1/4 pie shape. It has a date of 17?I also found 2 copper's

amazing find! unfortunately, i dont think it will get banner since it was your first post
Where is it posted that someone's first post isn't banner worthy, or rather you have to X amount of posts to make the banner? Please show me. :icon_scratch:

Thanks everyone for all the great comments. If anyone knows someone that could preserve this plate please send me a link.I have been using petroleum jelly on it to keep it moist.I wonder if restoring it would take the value down on it.

Man thats a great find, I have wanted one of them for a long time. Congrats!! What county you find it in? Im in Wicomico county, heading to worcester sat. to do a little digging. Congrats again on a great find, I would like to see some pics of the coins and lead too.

Congratulations on an amazing find! :notworthy:

I'm a firm believer in the "restoration method" of stabilization for future generations enjoyment.

Do whatever you want with it though LDH!

Look forward to seeing future posts of what you find on your property! :icon_thumright:

under banner pics , show > banner finds > about banner , We often get asked about the criteria we use when selecting posts that appear in the TreasureNet masthead banner.... While we don't have any firm criteria, we follow these general guidelines...

Finds must be significant, and plausible.
Finds / posts must be RECENT.
Images must be hosted on the TreasureNet server.
Posts with great stories are more likely to be selected.
If the post is one of the members first posts, it is less likely to be selected.
Finds must look good in the banner. that was set up long ago , diggumup ... Too many one time posters , showboating their Best

Thanks CMDiamonddawg. I guess he should have came on and replied to 50 posts first with a "thumbs up" smiley. That would make him an official member huh? ::) Maybe if he was a charter member, that would have changed things too? :-\ Maybe if he sticks around long enough to show his "worthiness" to Tnet, we can then ressurect this thread and get it on the banner? ??? ::) ::) ::)
