Dad rang up & wanted to do a short evening hunt, he was away last weekend & is away the next one. He had spotted a thin strip where the oil seed rape had not grown. We did the whole of this edge with nothing & decided to make our way to a nearby grass field to check the length of the grass. It was a field we had done but a very poor one, however it had not been XPed  We had to cross a Bean Field (or the edge of one) to get to it. On the way I noticed a few areas the Beans had not grown so I gave it a bit of a go, spotted a piece of Roman Pot! That was all the encouragement I needed, looked at the lay of the land & homed in on a scrappy roman coin then more pottery. Then found a nice hammered on the tyre track sitting on the surface ;D (never did get to check out the grass field)

Ended up in 2 hours getting 3 Roman Bronze Coins, 1 very poor Roman Silver, Roman partifact.
18th Century Clog Clasp

James I Penny 1623-24 - better than the example in Spinks book :icon_thumright:

Plus another Roman Site which we had no idea of until today :sign13: (too much land, too little time)

You find all of the neat stuff. Very nice hunt & even better finds.

Today, the best discovery was another site to add to the list. Its a lower priority field compared to others, but we wouldn't have even tried here, if it wasn't for a desperate wander.

Always nice to be surprised. Good job. Did Crudad get to scratch his itch?

Kinda, he GPSed the finds. Was little point him detecting with the Cortes when only room for 1 (his suggestion).

Good game as always, continue to the Roman camp sure that a field with "Terra sigillata Aretina" the red Roman pottery ... you can find Roman coins of 1th Century

The Samian was a good indicator. Love to find it, we are close

I've said it before Cru, you are doing really well for the time of year. Nice James 1 penny :icon_thumleft:, and yes samian is allways good to find ;D.

another kick butt hunt in my book.. well done as usual.. congrats to ya..

I am an all American boy, and I get my thrills from this hobby primarily from discovering relics from our American history, but I'll have to say, I keep coming back to this forum primarily to see whay you and Shaun7 and Silver Searcher and Hispan keep coming up with. You are literally walking out your front door and finding evidence of people from multiple cultures over two millenia. Keep it up, and let me come visit!

Dadgum, those are some neat finds. One question, do you ever find "new" stuff? My wish is to find something from the 1700's and you regularly find relics from day 1! I too, enjoy seeing what Y'all post from the other side.

nice hunt as usual!!!!!!!!!! MR TUFF

Need a detecting hand, Cru?

I would have treasured that James I penny over anything Roman because it's ... English. Romans were all over Europe, ME etc.

Every hunt we do & everything we bring home is pictured on here. So you may have noticed, very little new stuff (by new I mean 1900-present). The farm land we do means that very little modern stuff gets lost, except tractor parts.
