Lots Of Great Talent On This Forum..."WHAT DO/DID YOU DO FOR A LIVING?????"

Worked as a secretary for a couple of years in different types of companies. Then went back to school and got my EMT license and Medical Assisting certificate. Worked in various doctor's offices and for MIT in their medical department. Been disabled since 1988 (9 back surgeries, hip replacement and upcoming knee replacement). Husband and I have been MDing since April. He's an electrical/ manufacturing engineer at a medical device company. We enjoy detecting together, especially at the beach.

Correctional Officer in WA State. Love the job and am extrememly thankful to both my family and God that I have this job. Before this I've done a lot of Red Cross work, lifeguard and taught swimming lessons to kids.

Started as busboy in fine dining restaurants. Did construction during off season (summer). Then got degree in computer science for drafting. Did that for 18 years doing architectural, structural and then home designs (self employed for that). Got disabled due to hydrocephalus and pain issues. Too long to discuss.
Anyway, decided to stop letting pain rule my life and ordered my ATG. Figured I could use as walking stick/cane.
This hobby was always interesting to me and had done some panning and prospecting in the past. Since I can't do something's anymore, I figured I could use this as an excuse to spend more time with family teaching them about history and about the outdoors. Which is my true love in life. As well as my wife and 5 kids.
In reading these posts. I see that there are a lot of us that are not just crazy old farts that've lost our minds. Or is that an opinion to be determined at a later date.
Great thread, and thank you all for letting us know more about the name as your link. Happy hunting.

Lots of cool careers everyone has!

I'm a training coordinator at an agency that supports people with developmental disabilities. I train 300+ staff members on various classes and keep all HR files up to date. I'm a Certified Instructor through the American Red Cross for CPR/AED/First Aid. I'm also an Instructor for CPI, which is basically Crisis Prevention. I also teach other classes dealing with the day to day duties of other staff members. Oh, I also help out in the IT department. :)

Happy hunting everyone!

Dissabled Vet, I am using an ACE 250 to break me in to the hobby. I have always arrowhead hunted, collected coins, and love history so I knew this was a natural fit for me. I found an old trading post lost to history not so long ago and have permission to go in this week and check it out

Career cop... mostly. I'd trade my disablity pay to go back to work at the Kennedy Space Center in a heartbeat. TTC

Terry. I'm with you on that. Disabilty isn't what I had in mind for retirement. Lol. At least it's getting me started into new hobby.

I spent 20 years in the Air Force as an Aircraft Armament Systems Specialist. While in the Air Force I went to school and earned a BS in Operations Management and then an M.B.A. I also have a Masters Cerificate in Six Sigma. Retired from the Air Force in 2006 and went to work at Hubble Power Systems as a section supervisor making metal oxide varistors. Did that for three years and the plant closed. I have been working as an operations training developer/classroom instructor for a nuclear chemical facility for the past three years. I have been MDing since 1990.

I work for Colonial Williamsburg for the past 22 years . My schooling was in Air Conditioning . I have been MDing off and on since 1978 (age 10). I raced cross country motorcycle events. But found racing to be a bit on the expensive side . My past metal detectors have been Jetco Mustang , Bounty Hunter DE280,Garrett GTA500 Garrett Ace250,Garrett AT- PRO.

Retired Registered Land Surveyor , worked for a major pipeline all over southeast for nearly 40 yrs. I love looking for old land corners and such so I figured MD would be fun. Knowing how to trace land records, old map resources, and using gps comes in handy now.

Maps are my PASSION! So is GPS as it is closely associated with maps. I like to look for the corner markers to take a pic of them. I will shortly request "friend" status so I can keep you on my "question constantly" list! Tnx. TTC
