Lots Of Great Talent On This Forum..."WHAT DO/DID YOU DO FOR A LIVING?????"

Re: Lots Of Great Talent On This Forum..."WHAT DO/DID YOU DO FOR A LIVING?????"

Most of my time working has been spend in the shipping & receiving department of various companies. Eight of those years were spent as the shipping/receiving manager at a Saks Fifth Avenue. I only recently starting doing things that I TRULY enjoy such as working at an auction house and most recently took over the ebay sales at a large auto salvage yard. I work alone and the harder I work, the more I get paid. I enjoy selling anything online and I'm good at it.

Re: Lots Of Great Talent On This Forum..."WHAT DO/DID YOU DO FOR A LIVING?????"

Done construction projects for about 15years, janitorial 3 years, worked with handicapped folks for 2years, then worked 8 years as a manager/ service technician for a company that builds & leases well site trailers for the BC/Alberta/Saskatchewan oil & gas industry.

Took some time off when we had a house fire, at the same time took some schooling & now I'm a registered gemologist appraiser. Hopefully the wife & I will be moving to the West Coast in Chilliwak BC where I will be continuing with advanced courses in gemology/appraisals & of course I will have plenty of places to do some beach detecting, gold detecting, relic detecting, rock hounding in the hills.
The great thing is no more 6-7 months of frigid cold air & blowing snow, 20 years up here is enough!
................. warmer climate here I come!

RCAF 33 years as an AirFrame/Aviation technician, retired from the regular force straight in to the Reserves, still serving part time. Work for "She Who Must Be Obeyed" when I'm at home. This is missus #2, think I'll keep this one! Got 2 boys and 2 step daughters, all adults. Brand new to detecting, I've still to find my first coin, but already got a "Crotal Bell" and Canadian Militia button (c. 1890?).
Oh yeah, I blame this new hobby addiction on ZodiacDiverDave, thanks Dave!

I started my own fly fishing wholesale business in the 1970s and also was in business management (day job). I also shoot photography professionally. In the mid 1980s, I switched from business and recreation management to logistics and did that along with my fly fishing whole biz until 1988 (fall of the year). I took an offer to become a fly fishing instructor in the world-famous Caucci-Nastasi Fly Fishing Schools. I taught fly fishing and guided on famous Catskill Mountain waters (Beaverkill, Willowemoc, East and West Branch of the Delaware, the big Delaware). In the mid 1990s, I became editor-in-chief of a computer magazine. Later, I took a job in Columbus, Ohio working for a computer company as a senior tech and technical writer. Eventually, the job went offshore. From there (2001), I have a day-job as an inventory analyst (for medical insurance), I publish two magazines, have written five books, and still teach fly fishing and fly tying... do speaking engagements, teach people how to find their passion in life and pursue it (or them).

I am also a professional songwriter and member of ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers). I still shoot landscape for gallery works and for articles and books. I write lots of articles (lost count of published works a long time ago). Now, we are getting into video production. I still play music a lot. I am not bored.

I work at a metal shop, selling various metals & welding supplies... I also do a fair bit of CNC plasma cutting, cutting out logos, etc... Making medieval armor on the side.

Which works out well because I built myself a sluice box, a sand scoop, and various other things.

I'm a secretary for a small town in Southern Vermont. I got remarried about a year and a half ago after being single almost ten years. I've got two daughters and expecting my first grandchild (a girl)!! in September. I started mding about 6 years ago because I've been intrigued with "finding old things" ever since I was a little girl. So far, my favorite find is a Cracker Jack Badge from the 20's. I'd really love to get over to the UK one of these days and find some Celtic/Roman stuff, but it's not in the budget this year, for sure!

Probably just like everyone else, I have done a lot of different things.
After I graduated from college, I worked as a psychologist for the state of Calif. until other people problems started giving me nightmares ... :-) After that, I went back to school and turned myself into a computer software engineer...which I wound up liking and still do today.... it's fun and really pays the bills quite nicely... It has taken me all of the world..haha

Cheers,

Tye

so far I have had a hard but interesting life -- was married to first (bad) wife for 10 years and had 2 great kids (only good thing about the marriage was the kids)--currently married a very good woman (wife #2) --work wize -- I went to sea from 1980 to 2007 in the merchant marines ( SIU) 27 years before being forced into medical retirement * while working going to sea -- I went all over the place and saw many strange and differant places and things , and learned to understand and speak alot foreign langauges - most folks that I know think of me as being fairly smart and very well read ( during my sailing days --I spent a adverage of 8 months per year at sea (240 days) and at night to relax I would normally read 3 to 4 hours per night (thats 240 x 3 or 4 ) or 720 to 960 hours per year of reading x 27 years and I only read good "educational" type books - so over 19,000 hours of reading ) since I was forced retirement due to ill health n 2007 to keep my mind "active" and just for kicks , I do "research" on old treasure fleet shipwrecks and read up on the old treasure shipwreck reports from the old records

I am a college professor now, teaching educational psychology and instructional technology. I started my career as an electronics engineer and systems designer for a large telecommunications company but got the learning bug pretty bad. I went back to school several times until I ended up doing what I do now. I feel like I get to make a real difference in hundreds of young people's lives and I love it.

After High screw-all I went to work in a granite quarry for a year, I then got a job in a bar as a bar back washing dishes, two years later I made ass. manager. After 12 long years in the bar business I quite and got into construction. After about 8 years of that I went to work for an A/C company and I bought that company 5 years later. I still own the A/C company but its not doing great with the current economic condition we are in so I have become an Insurance Agent selling property and casualty insurance.
