Lot of work, little reward

Tried for 11 hours the other day and about 5 different spots and just couldn’t find the big prize but here’s a few things, not super exciting but it is something new. My contribution to t-net

I kind of broke up the flakes from two sites, it’s interesting to see the difference in what material they preferred

I did get a little piece of pottery which is very rare but as far as fragments go it’s pretty unremarkable

Some cut marks on burnt bone

What I’m fairly confident is a hand forged nail from my 1830 trade site

A corner of some kind of point

And finally a big fragment, I’m between quarry blank, or maybe a broken hoe considering it was found within a couple feet of the grinding stone I found, maybe an axe… not sure but if anyone recognizes the material I’d love to know, it pops up time to time but not very common

Those flakes are what keep me going, on any given day. The last one looks like a gray chert/flint IMO.👍🏼

Flint/chert it is. it’s kind of a salt a pepper with just a hint of blue that never shows in pics. I like to try to identify where certain materials come from so I can get an idea of trade networks/ ranges of the natives in the area. It doesn’t show up in the Kansas section of materials on projectile points… atleast not one with pictures
