I'm looking to get together with some other guys to maybe prosect with , I have some idea's and some hand equipment a small sluice , classifiers buckets ,etc . I'm Not in the greatest of shape , I was in an accident a few years ago , so I'm sporting a new hip , and 4 disks in my lower back fused , etc , But I don't give up easy ! I don't have much sluicing experiance , but I have mining experiance per say , I have worked in the rock crushing and gravel industry , as well as the logging industry . I am a liceinced in heavy equipment operation . I still have my mini equipment , etc . I'm really just looking to meet some new friends and have some fun . Please forgive my spelling errors . LOL

Hi Waynos , You can start the process of seasoning your pans by using dawn dish detergent in the pans . I put a good bit in get the water hot out of the focet and fill the pan slowly , then let them set till I can put my hands in , Then I use a scotch bright pad and put a light scuff inside ,and outside . The reason i do the outside is because it helps you grip the pan better when your hands are cold . you only have to do a couple inches from the lip of the pan down .

Don't scuff up the littlest pan. Instead use it with a little jet dry to do your finish panning. You'll want smooth surfaces on that pan to easily pan -50 material.

Thanks for the Info Kevin , I have'nt touched my little panwith the scotch bright pad so I'll try your method with the jet dry ,maybe that why I have'nt been able to get the really fine , fine, gold.

Thought you didn't LOVE ME NO MORE!!!! :sadsmiley:

Well to be honest.... you're not my type anyway and a long distance relationship just wouldn't work out. :laughing7: Besides, Jan is better looking.

If ya want a copy and Motohed won't give up the good, pm me your email address and I'll send it on out.

HI GI , yes it was interesting , I also seen something coming for RI . I live in RI , but I hate it . I plan on moving to NH in a couple years ,I'm scouting for land and homes now . Maybe I'll look for some with Gold included I still have some small equipment , May need to dig for a foundation , ETC , where the gold is at least .

I think I saw something on R.I. in the files. Give me a chance to check and I'll get back to you. Or should I send it to N.H. Nugget and have him forward it to you? :laughing7:

I would get it faster , from him then he will from me . I have trouble with computers , because I'm An FOG guy . LOL

I don't have a scotch bright will an SOS pad work to lightly scuff the pans?

Yeah Just really lightly , wash in out with Dawn after word . Good hunting !

No fee's from the club. You just have to pay the campground a day fee or buy a sight for a day or two. The outing is fri sat and sun.
The event on May 7th does it have any fees besides purchasing a day pass from the campground?

I think I'm going to spend the next year making a cheap guide book for NH... good information is hard to come by for sure. If I were you guys, dont waste your time in the campground section... the only place you'll find significant gold is where the Wild AM meets the AM in the back eddy fallout zone. Even thats iffy. If you are willing to moving up a bit further, the feeder streams on the southside of 116 / 112 are where you want to be.

I'll post a picture later of the rock type but there is a VERY distinct rusty slate intermediate with some quartz fingerling veins dispersed throughout these streams and youll know you have the right rock because it is HEAVY for its size. Lots of hematite, sulfur, and micro gold! Crush this rock for extra fun, beware of escaping gases. This is the source of fine gold in the river. Enjoy.

Thanks for the information
I'll weigh site rental vs. Travel and see what I can do.
If I stay Fri to Sun it would be sleeping in my tent or car most likely
Otherwise it would be 2 hours to get there and 2 hours home each day
Good thing I have time to figure it out lol

This is a great idea! There is a book out there about "Yankee Gold" but I forget the name. You may want to write something that expands beyond what that one includes.

PS I'm planning to write a book about Colorado too. It's be focused on unclaimable lands since otherwise I'd just be telling people what to claim and 6 months later the book would be useless!

I have the book , it's called ,where to find yankee placer gold . It covers New England ,all except for RI .

Right on Kevin. I can confirm that problem as that's what has kept me from finishing up last years take. I now need a new small NON seasoned pan. :BangHead:

BTW Waynos, your kit is the same one I bought when I got started for like $50. I think it gives you the most bang for the buck and the quality is excellent!

The only problem with the south side of 112-116 White Mountain National Forest. And there's private land! And one town just say's NO!!! The place where the Wild Am. runs into the Am. is owned by the camp ground off limits. I wouldn't waste my time writing a book it's all available on-line. If the camp ground section is SUCH a waste of time then how did I get almost a half ounce sluicing!

Just wait till my show comes out. 70% of it is filmed on the campground land. You will see some excellent gold come out of there, as well as some really bad clean outs. Nh Nug is right. That whole area is privately owned. From where the Am meets the Wam up till the W.M.N.F. and no motorized equipment allowed in the WMNF.

All they want in the WMNF is hands and pans there is ONE place you can sluice Tunnel Brook but you can't have one longer than 3'. WMNF. you need permission from FS. head quarters for that region and that is about 1 hr. south. And who knows what Ranger Rick will say? :dontknow:

I've had no issues obtaining permission if I'm on private land, if you want to spend time sifting through the giant boulder fields of the Wild AM in the campground section be my guest, the bigger gold is on the bedrock in the feeder streams that provide the gold to the river and easier to get down to bedrock in the streams imo. If you have some rock moving equipment, then the campground section becomes a lot more interesting. You can dredge in WMNF, you just need your permit and keep it under 4" and 5.5hp and no bank undercutting obviously. $50 for nonresident
