I'm looking to get together with some other guys to maybe prosect with , I have some idea's and some hand equipment a small sluice , classifiers buckets ,etc . I'm Not in the greatest of shape , I was in an accident a few years ago , so I'm sporting a new hip , and 4 disks in my lower back fused , etc , But I don't give up easy ! I don't have much sluicing experiance , but I have mining experiance per say , I have worked in the rock crushing and gravel industry , as well as the logging industry . I am a liceinced in heavy equipment operation . I still have my mini equipment , etc . I'm really just looking to meet some new friends and have some fun . Please forgive my spelling errors . LOL

Just a few more bucks then I'll get a sluice lol

Cool , I'm sure they will work fine , between us we should have everything we need . Welcome to the semi FOG guys ,I'm battered and 56 . Like the old chumba wumba song I get knocked down , I get up again , never going to keep me down . But I'm wobblely . LOL

I'm really looking forward to meeting all of you this year , sounds like a real fun time . Your always welcome to come seee me at camp.

Waynos I hope you didn't buy the Hoffman set? Cause if you did you're doomed right from the start! LOL! :icon_scratch:

Oh come on Nugget , he will be fine , Thuber finds gold with it ! It's not Todds fault he ADHD like me !!!!!

FYI for the nubies, make sure you season your pans. There are several ways to do it. I like to get the gravels from the stream and some water and work the pan until the water no longer beads up in the pan. You need to get all that releasing agent off.

Don't worry I'll have them doing the dishes in the river! LOL! Motohed I've got a 3'' dredge already.

If it has anything to do with the Hoffmans. It should come with gold already. Anything they touch turns to gold. Unless there in the jungle. Then its diamonds."LOL"

I'm not sure they broke 200.00 , that season .

I'm at MT Deception campground it's off of cherry mountain road .
I dredged up at Cherry Mt road 2 summers ago and Didn't find a speck.

Grizzly how's it going? It is me Chef440, I switched names to A.G.P. for my gold show American Gold Prospectors.
Hey Moto, I dredged over 25 on the Wild Am last summer (2014). My advice is to get wet. My Brother and I as well as Chef on TN POUNDED the wild am. Its a tough spot to sluice nowadays. Mainly because we wiped the shallow hardpan on the campground side of the river clean. There is very little gold in the over burden on the wild am. The thing it has going for it is that the whole river has hardpan and bedrock from 6" to 15' down. The easternmost egde of the campground property has some big exposed bedrock. If I was panning I'd go there. There are some juicy cracks still, but its definitely been hit many times. The shallow hardpan can be OK, but get as shallow as possible. Its been dredged hard. The other option for hands and pans is like I said get WET. Find a deep dredge hole that's down to hardpan, and work the edges. The good dirt is easially recognized there. Its cemented. Knitted, and very hard. The best of the best dirt that holds the nuggets sits directly on top of hardpan. Its a 1-12" layer of Rusty cemented gravels. If you find this dig! And don't stop until its gone.

There is a huge get together at the Twin River Campground May 7 2016 with the NORTHEASTERN GOLD PROSPECTORS Club. All are welcome. There will be many beginners as well as seasoned veterans. It's a really fun time. Hope to see you there. If you have any questions just ask. I've been dredging the area for a few years now. P.S. There isn't much gold at Cherry hill RD.

The event on May 7th does it have any fees besides purchasing a day pass from the campground?

Thanks for the tip..right now the local river is way too cold to try it lol
Here's what my kit came with,
15” Super Sluice Pan
14” Prospector Pan
10” Backpacker Pan
Classifier pan (1/2" I think)
Gold Guzzler bottle
2 gold vials
Tweezer/magnifying glass tool
Find an Ounce of Gold a Day (book) by Roy Lagal
Gold Panning is Easy book and video

So I gotta "season" 3 pans cause I'm sure they all have their place depending on the situation

Hey GI, How come you didn't send me anything? LOL! Unfortunatly there's not alot on NH. It's pretty much trial and error.

HI GI , yes it was interesting , I also seen something coming for RI . I live in RI , but I hate it . I plan on moving to NH in a couple years ,I'm scouting for land and homes now . Maybe I'll look for some with Gold included I still have some small equipment , May need to dig for a foundation , ETC , where the gold is at least .

Actually, of those 3, I only use the Super Sluice, and that is for prospecting (sampling) only. My primary pan is the Green GPAA 14". I won the 10" Backpacker pan in a raffle and I believe it is in the island of forgotten mining equipment in my garage. I didn't like the small bottom.

Hi Waynos , You can start the process of seasoning your pans by using dawn dish detergent in the pans . I put a good bit in get the water hot out of the foucet and fill the pan slowly , then let them set till I can put my hands in , Then I use a scotch bright pad and put a light scuff inside ,and outside . The reason i do the outside is because it helps you grip the pan better when your hands are cold . you only have to do a couple inches from the lip of the pan down .
