Formerly New Orleans.. Now Pueblo Co
Detector(s) used
several, mostly Garrett
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
Not my find, just trying to help another detectorist from a group I'm in....

This was found near Sparrows Point / Baltimore area. I think it's DAT? but I can't remember how to tell what order the letters go in. The finder would really like to know what he's got, so I offered to post here where I'm pretty sure someone will know

Thanks in advance!

Could it be upside down? The C looks backwards to me.

In the pic fyr posted it looks like a trident with an anchor - not sure about the letter though

I think it's got to be a D in the center, otherwise the other 2 letters are upside down

I see what you are saying. If I am seeing it right it looks like the T is on top of the D and the D is on top of the A. So TDA?

2 more long shots: 1) Is/was there an organization in the area where it was found whose initials are some combination of the 3 letters? 2) Does the 10 stars arranged in a circle on the back point to a particular button manufacturer? If so, and there is a book/website of their examples, you might find it there.

Just a thought but could it be DTA, something transit authority?

This crossed my mind as well - Dundalk is next to Sparrow's Point but I don't think they ever had a Transit Authority.

I think the order is T D A.

Entangled lettering. Waterbury bought out many of the old designs and DAT, TDA or DTA or any combination could be searched with the words "entangled lettering" on their old website or maybe intertwined but I cant find the old button website. My guess its a school or company logo.

I think this is getting closer due to the style of the letters. Not military related IMO.

The new Waterbury website is up and running but I couldn't find anything like this button on it.

It opens right up for me. In fact the search seems a little faster and there is more information on a lot of the buttons. I am using a desk top computer.
