I'm new to treasure hunting but "very old" to dowsing. I've been dowsing since I was 6 with my great-grandfather but it was always for water. I had no idea that you were able to do it for things other then water, underground lines, pipes, what not. I started prospecting for fun and I found this site and have since done some coin roll hunting and I just bought a new Garrett AT-Pro. As I've been going through the forums I came across the dowsing portion and was extremely excited when I started reading about it. I'm going to be map dowsing my own property and I'd really appreciate if someone could also dowse it so I can compare. I'm mainly searching for coins, caches, jewelry as we are on a very old stretch of homestead.
When I was a kid and my great-grandfather actually taught me using a Y-branch off of a pitted tree. I could always find water without effort and my gramps always told me I was a "natural". A few years later I started using L-rods to find old septic and water lines as well. Is there anything I need to do differently to find coins, caches, jewelry, gold placer deposits or is it just my own state of mind?
I would really appreciate any serious advice. Thank you!
