Detector(s) used
White's MXT pro, MXT and DFX, Fisher F5
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
I know this isn't going to "sway" or change the minds of those with an irrational fear of inanimate objects or those who live in countries that embrace the thought of their people being spoon fed and having their liberties handed out as if they were candy. I was told "Never argue with an idiot because he is very likely doing the same thing."

My point:

I think that we should ban any detector capable of reaching depths of more than 3."
Of course this is only for people who aren't archaeologists. A state recognized archaeologist can apply for a permit for an "Assault Detector"
Why? Citizens don't need a detector that can go deeper than that, there is the potential to disturb important finds.
The government will decide who needs these devices.
Recent events of people not covering their holes and digging without permission have proven the danger that lack of proper government involvement and regulation have caused.
Therefore rather than attempting to address the problem and the actions of the person, we will regulate the object. None of you need them.
And furthermore, all battery packs are to be limited to 20 minutes of charge time. No citizen needs to hunt more than that, the danger is too great.

Of course, this won't stop those who dig on CW restricted sites, battlefields and grave yards, but hey, we will feel like we are doing something.

We must ban the Assault Detectors. For the children.

(Edit: For those of you that apparently cannot understand sarcasm, this is not about metal detectors.)

Apart from being "most irrelevent thread of the week", it's in the wrong forum. Sure it'll be moved soon though.

Once again you have proven that you not only have no idea what I am talking about, but my point as well.
What are you so afraid of?
:-)
I don't remember any complaints from anyone in your country when people from my country showed up with their guns the last couple of times.

Cheers M8.

Y'all wouldn't be country bashing now would ya? "Never argue with an idiot because he is very likely doing the same thing." Do everyone here a favor, write that statement down, show it to ten random people and get them to painfully try to explain it to you. Then ask them it the statement seems "logical" in any way.

No, not at all. There are lots of nice places and I like to visit them.
However how citizens there live their lives is none of my matter, nor does my opinion on the issue matter to them as I do not live like they do.
The same applies to different parts of the US. People live differently.
However when someone makes a post titled "The UKs reply" addressing Americans on an American issue they cannot expect to not get a nation driven response and cannot expect they will not in turn get what they direct.

I have BEEN to places where those in charge decided who needed what. I have seen the murdered bodies, disarmed at the hands of "The All knowing government"

And do you know what I learned? My right to a weapon can be the only thing that protects the other ones. And I have seen what happens when you give them up.
And I only seem to be " horrendously wrong" to people in places with an all knowing, all providing nanny state.
And you are expressing your opinion, and you and the person I am referring to in another post are entitled to that. Bully for you.
However this is mine.

Sorry, but your attempt at sarcasm needs a tad more work, and a little tweaking too. :laughing7:

Oh, my tweaking is not the kind from a crack pipe either. :tongue3:

for the love of God.
Thank you for giving me a person to add to my ignore list, you have nothing to add I see.

Good job the Americans who brought their guns to my country last time didn't run away and hide like this! (And you've obviously never heard our wartime complaint about Americans being "over fed, over sexed, and over here!").

If you bother reading, my thread was titled "UK's reply to TH". TH being Treasure hunter, the mod. Not America! Go back and read it again and get your facts right. After you've gone and read about the war of 1812 will do. Something else you need to get your facts right on. Not doing too well are you mate?

I'm confused. If this is not about metal detectors....what in the world are you talking about?

too many people have died from uncovered holes, that is true enough. However, I am afraid you have put your tongue on too many battery ends

Look at where I put it.

However, I am afraid you have put your tongue on too many battery ends
Scathing retort.
You have eloquently expressed your derision of my beliefs through personal attack.
Do you have anything relevant to add on the subject or just feeling twitchy?

Ooo, ooo, I figured it out. It is a metaphor. You are not really talking about metal detectors...you are talking about "Ladies of the Night."
-Can't have more then three.
-limits on depth
-government will tax it
-cover holes = appropriate protection
-limited to 20minutes at a time

Sometimes I am so smart I surprise even myself...

just a medical opinion, not an attack ( not a doctor, but I've watched them on tv)

like this! (And you've obviously never heard our wartime complaint about Americans being "over fed, over sexed, and over here!")

Actually it was over paid, not over fed.And you brits at the time were just mad because you were "under paid ,under sexed and under Eisenhower".

Dude, You got your degree the same place I did!

yep and never lost a patient yet ( although I'll have to warn them about those 3 inch holes)
