Live from Stilfontein, where over 4,000 illegal miners are trapped underground in a disused mine. Rescue operations are being carried out by locals, as South Africa's government says it will not help, as part of an official policy against illegal mining. The miners are believed to be suffering from a lack of food, water and other basic necessities after police closed off the entrances used to transport their supplies underground.

The gist of this video is the viewpoint from the police side.
Some 1100 illegal miners have resurfaced in thee week or so.
They have arrested 13,500 illegal miners over the past year.
Plus 300+ high powered weapons.
10,000 rounds.
Then the uncut diamonds, money, equipment.

They sent food and water down. But the illegal miners stayed down.
So they have stopped that.
It seems that it's a stand off of hundreds of illegal miners vs the police.

They stated they're not going down a 2 km shaft to face armed illegals.

The question is are they being held against their will by a few guns?

The police don't know.

that's f'd up
In what way?

The enforcement of illegal mining gang's?

The illegals caught and it's a stand off?

The media playing them as the victims?
Actually it's hard to state alot on the open forum as it gets very political.

The police stated they can come up anytime, they're not trapped.
But they will be arrested.
Think about if it was a gang/mafia/cartel over here.
The police have them trapped-what choice do they have really.

Now will the media tell the actual truth.

Criminals turned into martyrs.
(Think that's happened before very recently)

It's a tough spot for the SA gov't. Damned if they do and damned if they don't. Reports from major media say some miners are too weak to come out and police are unwilling to go in as they fear some miners are armed and will fight.

IT's About Time !!!

South Africa miners: Minister says rescue operation will now begin

no different then the 1950's 60's Bootleg Coal miners here in PA !
even though they re-opened Closed Mines to make a living,
if there was an Accident , All Nearby Mines Would shut down & Rush to help ! there was little to no pissin' and moaning from coal and iron police that I Know of. other then crowd control. till all were out

I Still Can't Fathom 4000 Miners In one Mine ! & It's actual Size
to accomidate that Amount of Gold Miners :o
let alone how much gold is there ?

I hope other countries remember S. African Government and how they handled this when they ASK FOR HELP !!!

Damn jeff you dig deep into this stuff. Thanks you for your research sir. Appreciate you leading us into un chartered areas.
