lion head insignia? ... looking for info

just looking for some info on a recent find, this lion head plate dug at an old mill site has had me puzzled for quite some time now. I cant seem to find an exact match on any of my research sites. Would this be hat or belt plate related? or is it off a piece of furniture? ... aprox 2in x 1 1/2

Could you show a picture of the back. I have a feeling it's a decorative plate off a piece of furniture.

the back is just the image stamped in reverse, camera batteries are on my shopping list.

Is there any indication of a place where a small chain would attach...My guess would be the top of a baldric device...never seen that lion head before though.
