Not 10 minutes into Today's Hunt, I hear Josh yell to come over and this is what I see in the hole

I had given Josh the H.M.A. from Friday as a birthday present. Today he was able to return the favor :headbang:

Today's H.M.A. on left, Friday's to the right (Hampton Military Academy)

Again, Hampton Military Academy buttons are what Josh and I have been after every hunt for the last 6 months. To get two in two days is beyond any wildest dream we ever had. As Josh says below, listed as one of the HARDEST to find Confederate buttons. Thanks for sharing the experience.

The rest of the dirty finds

I knew you were out there lurking somewhere :laughing7: You really should start posting your finds again man, would really love to see what is coming out of the old stomping grounds :o

Two very tough to find buttons and you both got one Congrats!!

The fact that you found 2 in the same spot is pretty remarkable. I know of about 8 total that have been dug in the area over many many years (and that includes yours). And then I guess there are one or two in the museum in downtown Hampton (they coated them with polyeurethane without ever using lemon juice or jelly) not the best specimens. Anyway, awesome finds! You guys have been doing very well. Maybe I will see youall at DIV.

WOW what an amazing day you guys had! And to find two of those stunning buttons the way you did with the generosity shown is priceless!!

That is what this great hobby is all about. :hello2: I wish both of you continued success in recovering, saving, and sharing America's past history!!

The two navy buttons and pop out coin button are great finds to. And then to top it off with a little bit of gold in the form of a ring, what a day, what a day!!!!!!! You got my vote :icon_thumright:

Congrats to both of you again!

Hiya Evan, I don't think we've ever spoken. We always used to hear about your great finds and ESPECIALLY your H.M.A. That only makes a person that's never met you determined to succeed! Thanks for the inspiration. If I could remember every time Josh and I talked about getting one of these, I'd quote them all :laughing7:

I'm so happy for you guys. You deserve this find for putting up with me!! I am so glad I got to witness the first find. Congrats to both of you and you got my vote for banner!

About 4 years ago fellow member Soupie found & sent me a similar coin to your indian head. I was completely blown away by it, did a lot of research on it & I believe they are called "Pop-Out Coins". Around the turn of the century at county fairs & such, someone had a booth with a handcranked machine that would stamp different faces into coins. They would charge a dollar (lot of money then) & you supply the coin to be punched. The one Soupie sent to me was a Lady Liberty face popping out of a Barber Quarter & it was absolutely gorgeous! (I still owe you Soupie!) I put it in a nice 18kt gold bezel with a 18kt gold chain & gave it to my daughter who collects coins.........blew her away! Its her favorite necklace by far! :icon_thumleft: (I still owe you Soupie!) :)

Awesome finds Golf! :icon_thumright: 2 HMa buttons... Unbelievable And that Indian Penny button is really cool, never seen one of those before.
Look at how dry that dirt is ! Same as here in Delaware. GOD we need some rain

Thanks for the info, soupie pm'ed me and I'm gonna return the message as soon as I write this, but that's awesome about the bezel. Very kind of Soupie to do something nice for a member who liked a find

Thanks Deb for the banner vote.. Jeff let me know I had made the banner too recently so this one wasn't gonna make it.

Yes De. Digger, we NEED rain, BAD :D ;D
