Late 1700's Half Reale! (Don't get too excited...)

I got out to a place I can only hunt a couple of times a year over the last two sunny mornings.

The majority of oldies I've found were on a 25x75 area. The same area produced the coins below. I'd love to be able to take off a foot of dirt now that the signals are few and far between.

This little guy was a nice surprise. Another comes off the bucket list, but I would definitely like to find another in better shape. You can barely see the bust, and it is bent. The condition is brutal. :BangHead:

Late 1700's Half Reale

1899 Barber

Victorian Knot Brooch

A cool cuff-link

I don't think this button is military, but I could be wrong. Any idea on the date or who used this style? It is 2 -piece back.

Happy hunting.

Damn nice finds, to bad about the reale...

Hey it is what it is!! silver spanish and old!!! I have spots like that too…if I could scrape off a good later, it would be a virgin site again..

Oh well, its a start, might open the gates....

I wouldn't worry about it - I've seen worse. Early silver is early silver - congrats!

Awesome !! I always get excited when i see spanish silver in the hole-bent or not

Silver coming out of the ground is always a welcome sight ! I have a Silver "slick" (no design elements present ) that
I detected in Santa Fe , New Mexico - An area of early Spanish occupation going back to at least 1610 - I suspect
that it is a Spanish 1 or 2 Real - since it doesn't conform to the diameter of any known U.S. Silver coins . Yours
is at least Identifiable for what it is !

Nice find....early reale's we're used as currency for alot of years...so alot of them are well worn...Congrats

A worn out coin like that is more likely to have seen and been through alot of history. Maybe a pirate owned it or a famous person in history.

My brother has a D6 cat he uses to build logging roads . If I bring it over to give your spot a gentle scrape can I give it a swing or two also:laughing7:

It would be nice to have one of those in our arsenal. hahahaa

Thanks for the kind words, gents. :)

Looks like a very nice day still! Nothing wrong with those finds!

Beat up or not, that half reale is great!
Good hunt!!

Wow Gio those are all really good finds. I hear you about scratching one off the list but wanting a nicer condition one. My one and only Seated is nearly a slug, I'd like one that's a bit more eye appealing lol.

Don't you worry, J. Cache... the Deus will sniff one out for you if you keep hunting with full tones and 0 Disc. :)

8-)

Great stuff buddy. I love any Spanish silver. Yours just has more of a story

Well done bro! That site is HUGE! No doubt there's lots more where that one came from. Hit that place hard in the spring and nab yourself some 8R's! :headbang:

Bent or not, it's still silver and an OLD one at that! Congrats!
