My detecting this time of the year is on some serious diet. With the unbearably hot weather and the serious lack of available detecting sites, I have only managed to get out a few times last week and only for a couple of hours. I still managed to get a few decent relics and coins.

Got a few military finds.

British 31st Regiment of foot enlisted men button (1784 type) in a very good shape.

War of 1812 British 41st of foot.

A Brown Bess musket butt stock marked with the broad arrow. Unfortunately, the part containing the regiment number is missing.

Also, found a few coins.

A nice Upper Canada 1820 Halfpenny in a great shape. My first one of this type.

Matron head (1823?)

Strangely, found my first and second George IV coin. They are uncommon as he had a short reign.

George IV Farthing 1825

A few 1835 Lower Canada Halfpenny coins.

Some more coins 1770's-1830's

A few nice civilian buttons.

Croatal bells.

A cane tip?

A keyhole from a treasure chest (working on finding that one :laughing7:)

And the hoards of flat buttons...those in the pic are from the last few weeks or so.

Good bunch of finds for a short period of time - congrats on the great looking button.

Thanks. Was just lucky to hit a couple of small spots that produced some good relics. Couldn't stay for more than 2-3 hours in a field as the sun and humidity were brutal. I usually spend anywhere from 6-10 hours detecting (depending on the season) when I have a chance to go on a hunt.

Great finds! Those upper/lower Canada bank tokens are quite common here in Vermont as well and I've dug several. Seems like there's a never ending variety of those.

Some super nice finds. Cleaned up well. Going to look good in a display case. Congratulations.

Thanks Hawks. Strangely that 41st didn't clean as well (although it's 30 years younger and came from the same area) Sometimes the small variations in soil can mean huge difference.

That's dream digging to me. Congrats!!

My town was founded 1826 Im jeleous of old finds and the history other places have. Those are some great display items good job hope you find some more goodies thanks for posting them. Tommy

Thanks Tommy

Great looking pewters Aureus, soil is kind in your backyard

Thanks VMI. Both buttons were dug in the same area but the 31st is much better preserved. It's impressive how the slightest soil variations can affect the relics.

Great looking group of finds!

Thanks. Yes there are plenty of different types. A bit similar to the hard times tokens in US
