Few more NC..

I found so many blades as you can see in the blade frame. This is why I used to leave some for others to find. Far too many.
The NC6 points-Guilfords/Sav River are the finest examples of green rhyolite I have ever seen. I rarely found those whole, just a few..
The last frame are pretty decent sized Morrow Mountains, nice finding those.

Thanks for lookin'

Molly. :)

My goodness, what a fine collection. In the Caddoan part, the second picture, the round stone with the hole in it, what is that? Maybe a shaft straightener? I'm always interested in what something was used for. Excellent celt, too.

RGINN I'm not quite sure i was told it was a pendant.. :dontknow: Thanks hon.

No sharks teeth yet, I am still hoping..Thats one thing I would really like...make a necklace..

Molly.

Get down here to central FL and I can guarantee you find some sharks teeth, assuming you mean fossils. I can take you to the Peace.

The Peace? I need to look that place up. You know guys, I don't hunt anywhere where I can get into trouble. Most the good places here are on city prop. Definetly a no no..So no sharks teeth yet.. :-\ Also with the heat & bugs here, it makes for a dayum miserable hunt..
I might take you up on that though CT.. :D
CT, if you have any teeth fossils post them in the fossil section & send me a link hon. I'd like to see them.

This is all legit, Molly. You dig in the Peace River, I've found almost a thousand in one day one time. They're not huge teeth though. Mako's and Meg's are much rarer.

I'll post pics soon, I have a new digital camera coming this week.

You have amassed all those in three years? I have been at it for 18 years (to the point where my wife sometimes jokes that she is an "arrowhead widow"), and my collection could not hold a candle to yours.

I really enjoyed the NC and VA pieces, as they are closest to my modest finds in Pennsylvania. I especially liked the quartz material.

All my friends are collectors though Artorius, so the main topic of conversation is artifacts. If a friend as several of one type, I get a couple ( especially Garys :D ), it goes on like that. I used to have lots of quartz but gave some away. Works both ways..
I like to see PA finds, has you stated being closer to home.. Quartz is ok but I guess its like obsidien can get old.
I actually preferred the Rhyolite, when i was in NC..
Glad you enjoyed my thread.. :)

Hi Molly,

I collect exclusively in Pennsylvania - mostly in the southeastern counties, although I have one field I visit occasionally near the New York border.

I never tire of quality quartz artifacts. While generally jasper points are more attractive, in my book nothing beats a well-fashioned artifact of top quality quartz. The only problem with quartz is "quartz blindness" when walking fields that have mostly quartz artifacts and debitage - it is easy to look only for the white, and miss the darker chert and flint pieces.

I have silver-picked a few artifacts from Virginia and the Carolinas, so I believe I have seen what rhyolite looks like down that way. In Pennsylvania, most rhyolite comes from the vicinity of Gettysburg, and it is a stone that often weathers into an unattractive, stained patina. The rhyolite points I have seen from further south generally are more attractive than their Pennsylvania counterparts.

Wow, such a gorgeous collection in just a few years? What percentages would you say are found yourself/gifts/bought?

I have found all the VA & NC plus FLA points..The rest gifts also I have brought n swapped some..
at "least" 50% of what I have. I have found..
You know i see you thinking 3 years is such a short period for what I have but, I hunted in NC/VA "everyday" for 2 years solid.. I never missed a day..Lot of hours walking, getting skeeter bit, minimun 2 hours a day..
I am fortunate to be able to do that though..having a passion for this hobby helps too..

Thanks for the kind words hon.

Molly.

You have amassed a collection anyone would be proud of. The diversity of your collections from where all you have lived is fantastic. The colors and pictures are first rate. I am going back to look at it again and again.
Here are a few sharks teeth like what you may find in Florida. Thank you for sharing your collection and it looks like you have a good catalog system going to. Nice job.
Ok some sharks teeth for you.
