Detected at a local park for 1.5H and came across an unusually large spill of 9 coins. (Sorry no pics - Camera is being loaned out)

5 - Quarters 3 - Dimes and 1 Penny

Someone had lost a load of pocket change a couple years ago. The coins were found at a depth of 3"

4 of the coins were stacked one on top of another! Never seen that before!!!

I'd be interested in hearing what you largest coin count was for a spill (or cache)...

Nice find square!!!
I've only found three in one hole, quarter, dime and penny.

Keep safe and keep diggin'...

COOL!

i pulled 2.12 out of one hole before and had 5 quarters all stacked like someone had done it
on purpose.
it was strange but it seems to happen quite often on here

nice job

I didn't really count how much it totaled but one morning I was working a median between the streets on a boulevard and found a spill. I spent a good hour finding coin after coin just barely below the surface, mostly quarters and several dimes. I'm guessing about 150+ coins and it was heavy enough for me to go back to the car and unload it before I continued on. I think it was where the paper guy rolls up the newspapers and puts them in a plastic bag on rainy days? I have seen bulk newspapers dropped off there since. Monty

How big are these holes ?
Mine was about three inches wide by three inches deep

In a hole about that size my best was a '42 and '44 walking half stacked on top of one another...In a larger area, maybe two feet across I found right at six bucks!!!!

Wow, that's very cool!! You gotta like that kind of surprize. I love when the coins just keep coming out of the hole. Congrats and keep em coming.

Smiles!

I found 11 quarters in the same hole, all were dated in the 1960's. 6 were silver dating between 1962-1964, the other 5 were all dated 1965.

I once was in the water and found over $5.00 dollars in coins in one scoop. It was a loud signal and all I could see was piles of coins on the way up. Two kids must have been wresling or something. Mike.

My biggest single haul was 95 coins from one location before I got sick of digging.

It was a section of grass next to where a fountain used to be. So I guess it was a big continuous spill of people with bad aim. :D

There are probably 1000 more coins there. (It's the main library in Glendale, AZ if anyone cares)

About 48 pennies in a 6"-wide area. Either it was only a "most of a roll" or I wasn't good enough with the handheld pinpointer I was using last year.
Zincolns, all of 'em.

Depends on what you call a spill...first "spill" was in a Park in southwestern Indiana and it included 36 wheat pennies(all 1917, 1918, 1919, 1920) and 13 Indian Cents(all 1907). Second "spill" I was hunting with Terry N and he posts on other forums so some may know him. Was across the street from his house and he had hit it a few times with his XLT. Hit a strange signal beside the trunk of a cut down tree and pulled 54 coins, includeing 46 wheats(all in the 40's), 1 Buffalo Nickel, 2 War Nickels, 1 1946 Nickel, 3 Mercs, and 1 silver Roosie. Everything in the 40's except for the Buffalo(1937). He just sat down and watched and couldn't believe it. I hit a spot after a fair last year and recovered about 120 coins just in the area of one of the rides and 245 in a very short time there. Total cash amount was $23.60, but I think hoosierfinds who posts here found more, but he would have to verify his totals. All I know is he was using his Bigfoot coil and that thing is a clad magnet!!

I ran into a spill that consisted of 7 memorial pennies. Largest coin spill I can recall.

i FOUND $5.75 IN CHANGE, TWO TOONIES & A LOONIE & THREE QUARTERS. I LOVE THOSE 1 & 2 DOLLAR COINS.... ;D ;D

I hit 2 pocket spills today, the first one 9 coins, the second one 7, six quarters...over $2.00 dollars......I hit the 4th of July fireworks viewing area........I keep forgeting about that place.
