Yes, certainly I know my own question.Im perfectly fine with anyone saying that it's not real.what is not fine is people trying to speak on information that they are not up to date with or misinformation.see post are supposed to be fun and educational not a bunch of old timers getting mad because you question there answers or you want to know reasons that's how you gain knowledge by asking right?
I am certainly not the expert here, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see why many responded the way they did knowing you came to them with the question.....you do remember your own question, don't you. :BangHead:

Large Clovis Point Please Help!!

Does this point look promising to have authenticated or is it a modern reproduction

DF73...those are the title, and your first post.

...and you got help from people who know what the hell they are talking about.

...and then, when you didn't like their responses, you wanted to argue with them about what they had to say. They have decades of experience...you have none, yet now you suddenly know enough to tell them they're wrong?

Just take the damn thing to an accredited expert, so they can see it hands-on, and get your answers.

Now really in the last dozen years how many times have we all gone down the same road.
Meaning exactly 💯 what you stated.

It usually ends with a line going through the name.

Then it returns once again to start it all over again.

Well I was just making inquiries about there opinion not arguing didn't know that was a crime.Usally when people don't know they have a tendency to get mad when questioned it has been a great pleasure the Clovis pictured is in fact real and will be auctioned off soon summer of 2025 premier I will create a new post then and put a link so everyone can watch the auction the morale to this story never judge a book by its cover. P s dizzydigger take a nap you have some anger issues

The only issue I have is when people come and ask for help, then gripe about
the help they got from highly qualified people because they didn't like what they were told. 'Nuff said.

You asked "Does this point look promising to have authenticated or is it a modern reproduction?"

There are actually thousands of years of member's artifact experience in finding, collecting and studying American Indian artifacts, many members here have decades of experience on native American artifacts.

Have the point authenticated by someone with reputable reputation.

Some interesting replies here.
So DFrank73, what is you point, you screwing with us?
You're saying the clovis is real, then what is the backing of this statement? I am curious.

Where are you getting the heat treated from
Look at how glossy it is. Look how dull the biface I posted is. Look at the fine ripples in the flake scars. Like little waves. Raw unheated flint doesn’t have those. I experimented for yrs making fluted points. How many have you made?🤷🏼 Here’s a frame of my work. I know just a little.😉

I've read about finding heat treated paleo artifacts. It stands to reason it was something utilized at times. I could be wrong but I've never seen or heard of a Clovis point being heat treated. The makers did, whenever possible use the finest materials available but knapped it raw. If someone has a legitimate heat treated Clovis I would like to see it. We are all about obtaining more knowledge.
