Lake Meade, how come nobody cares

I think this is all a bunch of crap. Like it or not,Western States rely on the water from Colorado river reservoirs. You can,t uproot 10s of millions of people and send them somewhere else, where else? I don,t want them here,we got plenty of people as it is. Here,s an idea, how about instead of financing other people,s wars we use that money to resolve this problem.40+ billion and counting should go a long way to that end. We have billions of gallons of excess water passes through my State, figure out a way to get that water to the Colorado and refill the reservoirs. It can be done without completely wrecking the existing ecosystem. During years of plentiful snowfall and rain.cut back on the imported water, keep the infrastructure for the next drought. Unless some billions of people feel so bad about it that they commit mass suicide for the environment, stop arguing and blaming what has been and work on the now.

I do believe that big earthquake is going to solve all the issues.
Buy the Nevada waterfront properties soon.

If this is important why does the state of Nevada or government not do anything about it, or isn’t this important educate us, thankyou
Having lived in Las Vegas, (my mom is still there), part of the problem is that the valley has outpaced itself, in the 60's there was the strip, Fremont street and the small surrounding community. Now the entire valley is filled with houses and they are not stopping. Yes, a lot of the water gets diverted to other places, but when you allow all the golf courses, parks, housing communities and casinos to have water features that waste the water, it will never get back to its original state. It has been said that in order to get Lake Mead full, Lake Powell needs to replenish first, the only problem is that is not happening any time soon either. They keep adding lower pipes in the lake to obtain the water. Las Vegas is now requiring most casinos and other places to get rid of the water features and they will pay for residents to rock their yards to stop using water. They are also on a water restriction, some days you can water, other days not and time limits on the days and time of the day that you can. They are still building out in the desert beyond the valley and they are having to divert water to get it there to the new communities that shouldn't be built there in the first place. It's all about the benjamins...........

Start dredging canals along Interstates 80, 70 and 40 westward from the Mississippi River and Great Lakes region to the west and southwest. Move all that floodwater west, irrigate where necessary along the way. Might even save Californians from themselves. Trump could do it even if it saved California.
After seeing firsthand all the politics, permitting, impact studies, and legal bs to run overhead lines from a generation plant to a substation (37 miles) I'd bet we'd be long dead & gone before that canal was half way constructed. Good idea though!

A railroad right of way would be better since they already own the land.

Greed & stupidity usually go hand in hand.

Maybe Elon musk can do something he doesn’t turn down challenges, he already has underground tunnels, bring sea water in and convert into drinking water. Gee we only send Ukrainian billions of dollars , this is a joke and you all no it, r beautiful land is eroding, rusting away, oh what the hell typical Washington at work, oh sorry r they working , nope
Bring sea water and convert it?
There is no way I’ve heard of to do that on scale.
Man cannot control geography.
Millions of people trying to live in desert areas won’t work long term. Just like New Orleans existing below sea level. The sea will win out.

Man built the Panama Canal, that comes in handy.

All that flood water in the midwest doesn't have to flow south, the Gulf has plenty of water, send some west. The rainbow trout in Yellowstone could use some Louisiana mosquitos.

Just for fun let’s say it could be done.
What’s the motive for us midwesterners to send it?
California doesn’t send food or manufactured goods just because we need them.

For the past 20+ years, Las Vegas has been buying up large tracts
of land in N. Nevada, and then putting in wells and pumping the water
back down to Vegas.

The Coachella and San Joaquin valleys are some of the most productive farm lands in the US. Leave them dry and the nation will be in trouble.

You can,t undo the past. Figure out a way to make it work today with what you have. It can be done with the right outlook, then all that remains is an engineering problem to be solved.

I have always thought that a pipeline could be built along all interstates to take excess storm water(flooding and tidal surges) and pump it to the Nevada desert into underground aquifers that would clean up the water and then pump it to needed areas at a cost. Most interstates have a large enough median to support a large pipeline and this would also help all areas with flooding issues.

That was my thought also, maybe a canal for a while to help collect runoff along the way, than a pipeline, maybe use some river gorges, tunnel thru the rockies. Maybe two routes, thru Denver and thru Albuquerque, maybe feed the Colorado river and keep Lake Meade topped off.

Let the engineers and environmentalists figure it out.

Take the environmentalists out of it.it,s an engineering problem, engineers are trained to deal with that.Environmentalists would like to see all humanity dead.Except for themselves and families of course. It,s very likely that a system using siphons or siphon effect could be integrated into this too, save on some pumps.Run pipes up the Rockies, down the other side into the valleys. A Redneck Credit Card on a grand scale!

As a bonus, it would be handy for urination on trips
