Hello everyone,

Gary and I got out today. Gary was getting cabin fever!. We hit the Happy Trails site. There is a sandy area that we thought we could dig up some good finds. We did, but man ol man, some of the area was hard as a Rock.

Gary found a 1927 S and 1927 Mercury dime and a 1947 Roosevelt dime, he also found a 1941 Canadian Nickel and 5 wheat penny's.

I found a really neat Sterling Silver ring, a 1928 Mercury dime a Token Good For 25 Cents in Trade, on the other side it reads 12,439, beats me what that is. I also found 4 wheats.

It was a cold wet day, but we did get out and it was GREAT. Can't wait till Spring.

Hope you all get out and find some great items.

HH, Ringfinder

Cabin fever in a week or two?! :D I'm pretty much with you. Snow and cold have not stopped us yet but we have yet to detect a day that was lower than the upper 20's. A few inches might stop us at some sites..... anyway...

Good finds. Cool ring and token. The old canadian nickel is a neat find. ;D

Now that is dedicated. That sure beats ice fishing though. :) So that's what they mean by "hard cold cash". Great job.
I wish I could find just one old dime like that.

You guys are tough! I bet the bones were hurting though! :D Good day in the field, ring!

BRRRRRRRRRRRR! is right! Too cold out there for my blood.Cabin fever struck and you two struck it rich.Great job out there!Love that old token and not to mention all that awesome silver.Nice rig you got there. Stay warm & HH!

Very nice finds. If you wouldn't mind could you tell me how deep those silver dimes were and what setting you used on your Ace 250 at the time? I got one for Christmas and it just seems like I'm missing silver dimes. Thanks

Hi Dan, Well the settings we use are probably the same ones you use. We hunt usually in Coins, but also use Jewelry a lot also. We use around 4 or 5 notches of sensitivity and dig just about every signal that sounds good. Usually a coin will lock on, but if the coin is on it's side, sometimes the sound will be eratic and hard to lock onto. You just have to use your gut feeling. It pays to dig all signals that are 4 inches or deeper.

The Silver dimes have been coming out of the ground at around 4 inches or deeper. We have dug silver out at over 7 and 8 inches. We have also found some at 2 inches, you just never know. One thing about the sound of silver is it just sounds really good. Take a regular dime and a Silver dime and put them on the ground and see what each sounds like.

Hope this has answered your queston. Gary and I also use a SunRay Probe on our detectors. We would be lost without this probe.

P.S. If you have any more questions, please ask, we will try to answer your questions about this great little detector.

Nice Finds and makes me glad I live in SC.....What is that white stuff on the ground.. :o

You must of had cabin fever pretty bad to hunt in the snow! Great silver finds. Tsgman

Well done...I know the feeling. I'm getting cabin fever and plan to try the wooded areas around some cellar holes this weekend. It is going to be -22 celcius but I can't wait anymore!
