Just dug this penny. Anyone know if this is a King George the 1st or 2nd Half Penny? I think the date is 1738. I haven't been out much in the last month, the last four days we have been in a heat wave here in Boston. I was in the beating sun for about 1 1/2 hours and dug this in the dry dirt. I was about to pass out from the heat, then this coin gave me the motivation to leave. I was very excited finding this bad boy. Keep the faith.

Are you getting younger and older confused again? Younger is the lower number, and older is 1749!!! :laughing9:

That is a King George that I would love to flip out of the PA soil. :headbang: Sweet detail, man!

It's a beauty "G"! Congrats....Hogge :headbang:

Thank you all. :icon_thumleft:

That's a GREAT looking George II!

The patina looks a bit fragile and flaky around the edges, so I'd steer clear of both water and olive oil. What you've done to clean it so far is excellent.

I put about 4 coats of Blue Ribbon on it. :icon_thumleft:
Thanks all.

I bet that made it all worth while to brave this heatwave, thankfully it's over for a few days. :sunny: Great looking find too Garabaldi, that sure would've made me want to crack open a couple of cold ones to celebrate! :icon_thumright:

Always a delight to have Ole George stop by.
