Kamchatka Neolithic Tarinskaya culture.

I just wanted to speculate and say that your item in post# 252 does look like a possible graver, and I would also speculate the the item in post # 254 was damaged in the flaking process, thus it was not reworked into another tool. Otherwise, it is sometimes difficult to assess what certain items were originally meant to be.
Please keep posting your most intruding finds.

Hi quito, good to see that you can express your disagreement so articulately.

Did you read the paper linked to previously? (I found it extremely difficult due to my inability to resize it.) I do not know what the relationship may be between "Geradot" and the author of that paper, but if he is even a helper then I am quite sure his knowledge about that specific culture quite exceeds your puerile, argumentative questioning.

Standards of workmanship vary across time and most certainly between cultures, your 'knowledge' (whatever that might be) may be not so applicable to the pieces being described. Different in both time and location.
(if the custom is to 100% work all surfaces, then any piece having an un-flaked area would be 'unfinished', no?)

Good to hear you have 'rescued' lots of fragments, and have a strong imagination.
Bill

Yes, I did read some of the paper. Way out of my area of play.

It has nothing to do with the issue I was addressing. In another thread it was the original poster that started telling ME about MY artifact and incorrectly identifying it as an “unfinished piece” then he went on to say he would show some of his examples in this thread, while ignoring my response and question in the original thread. (Unfinished?)

I dont know know why people have to get their undies in a bunch, just because I try to straighten something out once in a while instead of just going with the easy and often incorrect flow.

would any piece with an unflaked edge be an unfinished piece if the custom was to work all surfaces???

What kind of question is that?
Of course it would be unfinished if that was the custom!!
Is that a custom somewhere?

thanks for those closing kind words!

I don't care what they are called. I can see the workmanship put into them and appreciate them for what ever Y'all want to call them. Please keep posting your finds.

"unfinished products"

Do you think your pieces are not yet finished, like they are yet to be completed? Or do you believe they have been discarded or repurposed, because they were not very workable for one reason or another?

i can’t think of any good reason why you would find so many “unfinished” pieces in one place.

you could easily clear this misunderstanding up if you would tell me/us, why you believe these are unfinished. I did ask a few days ago.

Maybe the natives fell behind on their rent and got evicted so they trashed the place with unfinished and broken artifacts!:icon_scratch: Whether it is "unfinished", "discarded" or "repurposed" shouldn't be a big concern. The pieces are obviously crafted by natives and very nicely to the point in time they were lost or thrown out for whatever reason.

Natives behind on rent?.....Ha ha ha, Aren't you funny?

I simply asked for an intelligent opinion from the OP since he is posting so many of these "unfinished pieces".

Some people are happy just looking at pretty things, like you obviously.

Others like to learn about and from them, or educate about them, like me for example.

I think learning the real reason why thousands of these pieces were found in one place would be very interesting.

I am very sorry you and others don't care.

hey quito, a heads up - many DO care (how many thread views?)
you are being argumentative and repetitive, your question was answered but not apparently to your satisfaction as you now want an "intelligent opinion"
lighten ship guy, if you don't have anything good to contribute, just shut up
we are not trying to run Geradot off this site

he thinks are unfinished and shows us with the white paper what he thinks they would have looked like if they were finished. We then can compare them to finished styles that he has posted before to see what finished ones do look like.

I don't want to run Quito off either. Maybe if Geradot was from here he might choose different terminology to describe his finds. I get the feeling that english is not his native language so that may explain a little. I don't think anyone will ever know all there is to know about ancient cultures and their reasons for doing things the way they did. We can speculate but can we ever know for sure?

I apologize for my poor knowledge of English, probably, I could correctly explain my thoughts on these issues.

You don't need to apologize. You have better command of the english language than a lot of folks who claim it as their native tongue.

No need to apologize, Geradot. There an old American saying that I heard from my Grandmother. "You (not you, Geradot) would argue with a fence post, if the fence post would argue back."

Keep posting and keep giving your opinion!

thanks for sharing your knowledge with us Geradot please do not stop i think you know alot

Your beautiful pictures /relics might not master English either.
We do not care . Not even a little. They were not crafted by the English language.

Thank you for sharing.
I can understand you fine.

Dear friends! Thank you for your support and kind words! I'm glad that "my" artifacts are interesting in views and they arouse great interest from the forum participants. My knowledge in this area of history (the Neolithic) is very modest - about 30 years of life.
I also studied the Middle Ages from the Far East to Central Asia (but this topic is for another section of the forum).
I still have something to show you. This is the order - several thousand artifacts. Are you ready for this? it will be interesting?

Bring them on!:hello2: As long as I can see I will look at them!
