I got out this weekend with Tnetters Kurtstuben and Smittyman. The weather was really nice, the BBQ lunch was killer, and it was good to hunt with my buddies.

Here is a pic of Smittyman, fixing to make it happen!

The first place was trashy and gave up very few wheaties, so I was surprised when this 1924 Merc came out of the hole.

Both silvers came from a slope in front of some old housing. The grass (weeds) was too high, and there was a lot of trash, but I was glad that my efforts were rewarded with a second silver coin, a first year Rosie.

Here is a pic of the 126 coins that I dug on Saturday, at a couple of different public spots.

Here is a pic of stuff I didn’t throw out... yet.

If you know what that spout is for, let me know.

Thanks for looking and good luck on your hunts!

I like your pictures. Some nice stuff dug including those silver dimes. You and whadi are the best collectors of clad coins in the world.

Nice finds!! Congrats on the silver! Looks like a lot of digging, nicely done HH

you were a very busy man and the reward was some silver. Great BBQ always makes for an even better day(or better than it was)

I bet you guys had a blast just by the amount of targets you Dug. Congrats on those 2 silvers Tom. How'd Kurt and Smitty do?

Congrats. I havent dug a merc or a rosie this year. You would think a farmer or hunter would have dropped one

Thanks Loco. See you in a couple of weeks in the Shenandoah Valley!

From my perspective, the other boys did very well, they enjoyed the nice weather, BBQ and my friendship... but found no silver. Perfect.

Very nice. I've seen the silver you dig once you get going! Cool hunt.

Thanks Loco. See you in a couple of weeks in the Shenandoah Valley!

Sweet silver Tom!

You & Loco meeting up the the Valley? Let me know when & where! I almost got up with Loco in Ohio last year but I had to bail out.

Hey Tom , Well looks like Smittyman is ready to hunt !!
Nice to see you guys out and digging.
Nice haul too. 126 coins wooh. That’s s lot of holes
Hh gl.

Your a digging machine, I'm ready to find some old stuff, Might have to slip in a fishing trip, big ten pound sea trout will be running at the time you come up. Don't worry there is curb hunting right nearby (I found a beautiful 1805 Draped Bust Half Cent there) Was that a ear cuff I seen mixed in there? I'd love to hunt with Kurt and Smittyman, wish they were coming up.

You have to dig a lot of holes in the places I hunt, if you don't dig hundreds of holes, you will end up empty handed, just ask Smittyman, he could write a book about it.

It's not an ear cuff, it's a plated bead. I will attach it to a piece of paracord and make a lucky charm out of it.

I look forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks.

Loco and I were invited to hunt at a CW permission with a couple of Tnetters. It's been in the works for a long time, and is finally happening on the 20th.

Since I have to drive 5 hours north to get there, I figured that I would drive 10 hours north and visit Treblehunter in NJ, then hit Virginia on the way back to NC.

Man I bet you are sore from all that digging... Congrats on all the great finds!!!

Nice finds Tom. A pair of silver dimes can make a good hunt. Glad you were able to spend the day with friends.

Now thats some hard work! Great job! at least you got some cool finds and a little silver for your efforts. I found about as many coins as you but didn't have to work as hard. My coins were pretty shallow and close together.
Good luck on the CW site. I also got an invite to VA for a CW hunt. Should be happening sometime within the next couple weeks. :occasion14:

I must be a slow digger because I have never recovered anywhere near 100 plus coins in one day! I'm lucky to dig 20-25 maybe the schools and parks are hit harder here not sure?

I'm not sure I could pull that off if I knew where they were. That's impressive! Any Tips?
