I need a little button help again. This button is much more obvious than the last one I posted. I know that JRM Lyon stands for Jacques Ravinet Mesoniat, Lyon France. I believe it to be early to mid 19th century. Diameter measures 13.6mm. Raised letters. The only info I can find on JRM is that this company made buttons for the Mexican Army. This style does not match the photos on the internet.
Does this particular button style have a specific name? Is this possibly a civilian button? Does anyone out there have any more information on the maker?
*This was just a dumb luck isolated find. No other artifacts in the immediate area but…. It was about 80 yards from a metal arrow point manufacturing camp. So again, I’m leaning towards this being lost by a Native American.
