Johnathan Swift Tnet Campout Daily Update List, (October-2010)

Sorry everyone. For I have not been on here fer quite a while. Time is just not in my favor lately. I too will not be able to attend. I hate not being able to make the trip, Truckin and I. But hopefully life will cooperate better the next time and we could attend. To many family obligations right now for me to get away.

Sorry but it looks like I won't be able to make it either.Doctors found a spot on my wifes lung and I am taking her to get a cat scan tomorrow,so they can find out what it is.Cancer runs in her family and she is really scared about it.I was really looking forward to getting to meet everybody, but momma comes first.Hope you-all have a great get together. Fred

Hey guys, just a note to say what a nice time I had meeting everyone and learning that there are plenty of others besides me who have questions about the mystery of the Swift mines in KY. I look forward being able getting to the point where the questions are finally answered. Hope to get together again.

Hello All!
I had a great time at the Johnathan Swift Treasure-net camp-out, I enjoyed ya'lls company "immensely". Hope we'll can get together again and plan/a J. S. hunt and do some exploring in the coming winter months. I enjoyed getting to see Jack Flannery and Bill James from Elkhorn City. It was very interesting listening to them and everybody, discussing the many carvings and folklore, etc. that abounds when one talks about the legend of the Lost Silver Mines of Johnathan Swift. I have attached some photos from the camp-out

Yeah, had a great time too. The rockhouse was awsome! You'd never know it was there, if you didn't know where to look. And now where the leaves have fallen, I am starting to notice alot of rock formations where I am at. Gotta do some topo work on those to see what may fit. It is reasonably close to where they may have travelled. I do know that Walkers trail went thru there, so maybe Gists did too. There are alot of saddle gaps in the area. Maybe the "Mecca" Indians were in that area. Arrowheads were found a couple miles away, so who knows? Hopefully I'll get some pictures soon of a couple monument rocks similar in description to how swift described them. Till then, happy hunting everyone!!

Great Pictures! I've enjoyed seeing them. Bill and I should have stayed. It looks like you guys had an awesome outing. We enjoyed the meeting and the discussions. Maybe next time we can go on the hike into the Gorge. We hope to have a meeting here eventually-we have been talking about it. If it materializes I'll send info. Jack Flash.

Swiz ,
Two questions :
Did you miss my question (post 29) about the Chimney Top Rock pic in post 28 ?

Second :
Are these hikes in and out via the same trail ? I ask this in consideration for the group . Point being that if my physical limits preclude my making the round trip will the group be returning by the same path or will I be on my own from what I determine is a turnback point ?
I have always 'pulled my own ruck' and this is a very humiliating question to ask . I'll still pull it . Just
not as fast or as far . Holding back the group is not an option for me .
