Maybe a rosary crucifix. Earlier ones had a skull and cross bones at the base.
Yours has been in the ground for a long time but not ancient. I'm guessing early 20th C.
The patina is very red. It may be a nickle alloy. Cool find!

The way it's constructed leads me to believe it was made in a range of the 1960s to the 1970s. Hang on to it. Be handy if you get into an accident.
Update: Yeah as dcm says it's probably early than I'm guessing. I always thought that was funny on the ones that say notify a priest. If I got in a car wreck, I'd prefer an emergency response team before the priest.
Its a pendant portraying Jesus, mode of copper/Brass/bronze. Anybody knows some backstory or a time period ?
