Ironhorse and I set out yesterday in the hopes of a new area not very close to home would give up multiple good sites, and it had plenty of old signs, but just didn't work out. So we made our way back to where we've been digging and found a handful of targets but nothing special. Ironically my two keepers for the day, a complete shoe buckle frame and solid silver button that was engraved Mc, were somewhat of stray finds from the first area. So it's a strike out, just not one looking at strike 3... I got my hack in! :)

Judging by the names on that section of map, more than one boatload of immigrants from Ireland hit the shores there at one time, it could have been any one of those guys

The map is likely 50 years later, but obviously all the early ones will be Mc also, just not as many of them. I like it a little more now as it sort of tells a story of who settled the area. I've looked at that map many times before but all the Mc names really didn't stand out, but I guess that's because there was no reason for them to.

PS: Looks like a great day Saturday! Sunday much cooler, but not a big deal as long as there's no rain.

See my last name there...that was GGG pappies, he's asking for it back...long with my other GGGG pappies cob

While transferring some junk/relic finds I came across this piece of silver shoe buckle I dug several years back. I had two smaller parts, one which had some hallmarks. Imagine had it been whole.
