So just got to Florida this am after some flight cancellations and a rough flight. My daughter handled it like a champ(she's really tough for 6 let me tell you), my 2 year old son however not so much! Anyway, I'm here in beautiful sunny Florida just like I remember it being every time I come here. Wether it's the keys, Orlando, Daytona, doesn't matter. Friendly faces, beautiful everything, great roads, familiar food, fair prices, and on and on I can go. And I'm not saying these things because I never had any bad experiences, I've had plenty, starting with my wife having kidney stones at 5 months pregnant with my daughter in the keys!
Something however always draws me back to this place. For all you guys who hail from Florida, you're a lucky bunch let me tell ya. If I could find a job that pays my New York salary I would be down in Florida in a heart beat. My wife would actually be able to stay home, wouldn't that be nice. Later, mike

I agree 110%. If I could find a job that pays what I make now I would be burning rubber in the moving van!!

Either of you guys willing to drive a van to the NY NJ area, late at night. No question asked?

Would only require twice a month runs at different times.

Umm no. I wouldn't go to NY/NJ for ANY reason. Sorry. Southern boy through and through

Yes, Florida is a great place to live, but it is not for everybody... also, we are the butt of national jokes... like Floriduh. kinda like being the New Jersey of the South.

I thought Mississippi was the butt of the nations jokes. And Arkansas running a close second with Tennessee trailing close by in third!

But jokes or not Florida is where my heart is! I'm a land locked beach bum.

Yea we'll I think your home state is pretty awesome, fishing is 1st class and I hear the turkey hunting is damn good!

Just got invited on a primitive archery hog hunt, a new Florida experience for me. Looking forward to that. Florida can be great, usually is, especially if you live near the big waters, but the summer heat index and high humidity can be killer at times, and the noseeums and mosquitoes can eat you alive.

Yea buddy, franklin square here. Got family in Brentwood and Ronkonkoma, this winter was horrible. I'm so done with the cold. The dry winter is starting to take its toll.

Cost of living is a lot less than in NY so you don't need to make as much...

American by birth, Patriot by choice.

I would rather die standing on my two feet defending our Constitution than live a lifetime on my knees......

It has it's good and bad points. If you live near the water its good but inland it gets hot and humid, nights are warm and mosquito filled. At lest that's how I remember it. There's a lot more people there now too.

Hey G.I.B. That "job" doesn't have such a good retirement plan unless you like lead & being bait! Lol!

One major benefit living in Florida, NO State, NO County income tax. This can drastically reduce your cost of living.

From Tampa, on a clear day, we can see the rocket launches at Cape Canaveral. Loved watching the shuttle launches from here.

We seem to have less issues with big storms (hurricanes) in West Central Florida as well. And of course over here we have the Bolts, the Rays and one of these days the Bucs will return.
