Glenn, all of the pts. are from one site circa 1860. The majority are unfinished and Indian made. I have found several hundred artifacts from this site and will try to post some more pics. in the following days.

Do you have any more copper pieces? I notice a copper tinkler in the photo.

Glenn, actually I believe the rolled copper is an arrow pt. Several archys have studied my collection and they thought that because it is rolled so tight that string could not be attached to it. I would think that you would have to find wood fragments in it to be certain though.
I've tried to post a couple of pics that you might find interesting. Not positive what the round object is, could be a rosette or maybe a whirly gig toy. The piece next to it is part of a copper kettle, where you can make out the chisel marks from cutting out a piece.

Interesting. I have found several Tinklers. It is hard to tell of course these people are not around to ask. It is hard to tell sometimes what they were attempting or have made. Have not seen anything like these objects.
Have you found any trade knives, axes etc. I have come across some nice copper pieces. Love the archaic too!

Glenn, I have found a few pocket knives and broken knife blades, not sure if that is what you mean by trade knives though.
As far as axes, I've found a couple of broken pieces. What I find interesting, is the number of files that I find. I would guess that I have found at least 20.

I have cone across my fair share of files as well. I have a knife which is a file the has been pounded and pounded till it was thin and could be used as a knife.
The second photo is of fur trade knives from France and england. After careful cleaning some have makers marks. There are marks on the bottom 3. One has a "x" one a "m" and the other "Andre Poulet". If you clean the knives you have if they are fur trade you may be lucky to find a mark.

Glenn, really like your knives. Where are the maker marks located? Other than the pocket knives I find, most of mine are in fragments. The site I look on has been farmed for the last 100 yrs. Do you find a lot of pocket knives?
Also, I hope I am posting on the correct forum. My stuff is Reservation Period from around 1850/1870. I still find a lot of artifacts that could be classified as fur trade, though.

Makers marks are usually on the blade. I have a nice bone handle knife I found as well. I soak in vinegar for a month and the rust falls off. Then the marks are more viewable. I do find many pocket knives but not this good of shape.

Unfortunately I seem to have deleted the book mark.
I do know that I was researching Spanish colonial military artifacts when I found both French and Spanish conical points compared to eachother on one website.
The website name..may be something like "Spanish colonial Military artifacts"

Nice points! That IS a lot in one place. You did well! I have a paper written on the origin of rolled cone points, that mentions their use among the Spanish in Florida. They were used by numerous tribes before & after the removal. Deer antler points; both worked and socketed, were also used in the SE. Now, if I can just find that paper...

The Spanish and French supplied rolled copper conical points to the natives in Florida.
Socketed points of antler and deer toe bones were native made..and used long before Europeans arrived.
