I was back at the park this weekend where last week I got
a nice Franklin Half.
My two friends were with me and we each headed off in a
different direction.
I was working in a canyon on the side of the park and my friend was near.
I notice a hole where he had been last week and I yelled at him to
fill his holes. He yelled back that it was his buddy who he had brought
the week before. That guy was somewhat inexperienced and didn't find much
that week. Well, as I was going down the slope, I noticed a hole that was partially filled.
I put my coil over it and it gave out a nice high tone.
So I started digging with my Lesche. First thing I came upon was a small colored
plastic spoon piece that was green. I figured that the other guy might have seen this
and assumed it was what he was detecting and just covered up the hole a bit.
I kept getting a signal, so I kept digging down expecting an aluminum can.
Then I saw a small case, reached in ans saw this. I was hoping that it was
full of old coins or old bills, but unfortunately, all it had was a really old tobacco inside
of some type of woven cloth.
I cleaned it out and polished it up. It appears to be from the turn of the century.
I did scratch it twice with my Lesche, but the only good part of that is that it was
on the back. It weighs about 87 grams sterling.

Great silver case. I bet the other hunter will be sick when he sees what he missed out on. Dan

That is one nice piece of antique silver! Beautiful monogram as well! Congrats! :icon_thumleft:

You need to bust that guy leaving holes.

It makes us all look bad.

Glad that your good deed led to a fantastic find.

Haven't seen many of those on Tnet that nice. Did I hear someone say Banner? Monty
