Are there prairie dogs/desert rats on top of the building? I see one stretched out eating from the tree and another peeking over the roof.

Thank you. It might have been a jail. Generally, in the Western ghost towns I've visited, the two strongest buildings were the jail and the bank.

No, we didn't detect. It's private property and I have no idea how to contact the owner. Off in the distance is:

It was late in the day, and we couldn't find the road from where we were standing to the old mine site.

This is (or, was) Gleeson, just outside Tombstone. The building is a restored 1910 jail - the only remaining structure.
 

Spent a lot of time all around there as a kid (my family is all from Bisbee), as well as Charleston, Fairbank, St. David and Benson.
My brother and his buddy were digging a privy in Charleston and found a gold pocket watch and chain years ago.
