Illinois CRH for March 2009

hello,

i am waiting to receive my first metal detector within the next few days after a long debate. i was not sure how much use i would get out of it. we will see in the near future. i have been reading these forums for the last few days trying to get some pointers on detecting, what to look for, and such. after reading these posts, you guys have got me interested in CRH or whatever it is. i am assuming coin roll hunting? i am not a coin collector and a newbie to these forums but could someone inform me a bit more on what you are looking for exactly. or maybe direct me to a website that you know about to help me understand what to look for. thanks in advance.

Bock,

I can give you a quick overview of what coin roll hunting is. Coin roll hunting involves the searching of coin rolls for the purpose of finding any straggler silver coins, or, as in the case of nickels or pennies, older varieties. It is a hobby that involves a lot of patience and time. Not for the faint of heart. If you are determined, then with time (or with luck), you'll find silver coins mixed with today's clad.

Check out TreasureFiend's and Brett's YouTube videos on CRHing, and check out the CRH forum.

Good luck,

Joe

thanks for the info guys. it seems to be a bit of a pain. i went to 3 different banks today. my bank wants to charge me $0.15 per roll. the other two banks would not give me anything because i was not a member. maybe i will do some more research at a later date but for now i will just wait for my detector. it's supposed to come tomorrow!!
