I'll NEVER Get These Home!

I wasn't using a detector but did eyeball these today!

While doing research on the cannon fragment I found last weekend I learned of several cannons that have been abandoned near where I live. Little Patrick and I decided we were going to find them. It took some treking as they are well off the beaten path but we found them.

I shouldn't joke about getting them home...5 years ago someone actually tried to remove them from where they've been sitting since 1812 but were only able to move one a few feet. The huge rope in the pictures is actually from the thieves which was left behind.

Check out the size of that rope. Matches the weight of the cannons. If this was my property I would try to get one to my house, for display not for protection:laughing7:

The actual cannons are on Crown Land but are landlocked by private property and the Bay of Fundy.

Those are over 2 TONS each.

They can be recovered by the right crew though NP.

Cool pics. Thanks for posting them. I think it would be a great place to have a picnic ... or a cold bottle of the beverage of your choice ....

Nothing like using hundreds of years old cannon to set my sandwich and drink on...
Wouldn't be the first time... heh :P

All you need is two big teams of mules and a stone boat to take one at a time out of there with permission from the land owners to get them to the road. That's probably how they got where they are at now.

My opinion is...
The ship lies just off that front...
Cannons were pulled in... they took what they needed... left the rest behind.

So... just offshore would be the mother of those babies.

Wow! That is beyond cool! Close up of stamp, really like that! Makes you wonder how they really got there and last timed fired and at who? Great pics!

Did you happen to look down the muzzles ?

I see by the Gr they are British cannons, we want them back to equip our depleted navy battle ships.:laughing7: God knows we could do with them.???

SS

Nice find.............keep digging Those are some big cannons from 1812.

Romeo... when you return bring a good flashlight(s) with ya...
Look down the muzzle while someone puts the flashlight against the "touch" ...
See light... empty... would check it with flashlight as well...
No light...
Heh.
