If I found something

It is simply too expensive, legally, for an average person to go through the process of filing a claim. I would, and will, go to an established company, with a pre-negotiated deal, to legally salvage my site prior to revealing the location.

GIB, excellent point, and this is a process that has been used successfully in the past. As those of you who have read the State of Florida requirements to obtain a search, and or salvage permit know. The DHR has set the bar so high that even a well funded individual with little to no practical experience will be summarily denied a permit. Basically forcing the independent would be salvor to negotiate a deal with a reputable well established salvor.
This can be a profitable and mutually beneficial arrangement for both parties. Again I would recommend having your own lawyer going into any negotiations with a reputable salvage group. Trust me on this, I've been down that road and the old "my handshake is my bond" days are long since gone. Saving a few bucks without an attorney up front will cost you big time in the end.
