You appear to have a 1983 Half Dollar, deliberately damaged by both a crown symbol on obverse and a 4 stamped on the reverse. The term for for these marks is “Counterstamp” or “Counter Stamp”.

Time for more coffee.

Welcome Aboard! You didn't list your state (or country) in your profile. So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forum: Select Your Area.... and selecting location information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country)...

Agree. I have an old Lincoln penny with an "A" counterstamped on it.

Please if anyone can tell me what I got let me know something
I doubt they're worth anything more than face value, BICBW.

If not, then somebody knocked out at least a couple of them--goodness knows why. :icon_scratch:

Must have. That is actually the same coin, damage marks and all. :D
I disagree, if you look closely the crowns are very slightly different, the 4s are as well but only very slightly and the nicks on Kennedy's face are not present on the auction coin.

Tell us where you see the difference. Adjust the photos for the rotational difference then see if it lines up.
I have done all that and I still see a difference in the crowns, on the found coin I see at the bottom a rim and then a band above the rim, on the auction coin I see the band but no rim, it looks more like the crown is tipped backward and you see up inside the crown and appears similar to the rim on the found coin, even if it not tipped backwards then that lower band is different on the two coins.

That's what I see and you see what you see, so I will leave it at that, because it is apparent that neither of us will convince the other to see what we see!

The lighting direction on the 2 photos differs, from the lower left on the auction photo, and more overhead straight on with a touch of from the upper left on the OP photo of the same coin causing shadow differences. What we need is for

JoshuaHorne to weigh in. he might be embarrassed to admit he bought it. No reason for that. It would be nice for him to tell us.
