I'm not sure how to trace a 3 digit phone number.? Found it beside an old barn.

Charlene, you might check with the library for an old Polk's Directory-it might go back that far and it also cross-references addresses as well as the #'s and names. Nice find, BTW! 8)

Re: I'd call this lady but...

Nice Tag. Looks oftly old too me. You could try and look her up on the franklin co or area census to see when she was living. That may help some. I found alot of similar things and I would say they are from 1900 to 1930.

Or possible try and return it to a close member of her family if you find out she is no longer alive. Lost items are very important to family members. I have learned this through past experiences. That's if you really want to spend the time to locate them. I have a hard time finding the time to do it. But it's a great feeling to return something.

Good Luck

Who knows ! Back in them days mabe 3 numbers were all you needed....Nice Piece.!! Seeker

Re: I'd call this lady but...

Maybe its a luggage tag?
If its from the days of 3 digit phone numbers, its old!
Even as a kid, they were always 7. But back then, they used words for the first digits. Murdock 7 8320 would be MU7 8320.
If she is still alive, she should be delighted to see something from that far back.

I was in Franklin Virginia once. I dialed 9 to get an outside line and got the Elmer Dinkley residence.

I have a old WILLAMS VALLEY LUMBER Thermometer,

I'm Guessing Late 40's to Early 50's

it has 3 Phone Numbers;

Tower City was 52R4
? Tremont was 34R4
? and Elizabethville was 59

COOL FIND, at least 60 years old
