I took my DFX down memory lane

Fantastic post - a pleasure to read this. Glad you had a memorable time and congrats on finding your badge...I too wish I could go back to the house I grew up in......I got my 1ST metal detector in 1974, I think it cost about $15. cheap as HECK!!
I do remember finding a Merc way back then where the swingset was. Don't know if my MOM planted it for me to find or not??
Thanks again..............

That is an awsome story with great pics! It is wonderful putting history together with pics.
Happy Digging! keep up the good work. DAN

Shrecky that has to be my all time favorite post to date. I really mean that. I will be walking down the same lane soon (also with my DFX). My mother (last parent alive) recently passed away. My sister and I have been going through the house little by little. Seems that around every corner there is something taking me back to old memories. I to will detect my old childhood yard. We will see.

Thanks for the post.

Brian

What a wonderful story and pictures, You've made me want to go back and try to get permission to dig at the house I grew up in. Congratulations on finding your badge

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. I wish I could take the time to tell you about all the memories I have thought of since my hunt. Snow forts in the yard, wrestling matches with all the kids in the neighborhood against my Dad, my dog Susie and cat Fang, Christmas gatherings, Halloween parties, my “perch” at the top of a 50’ pine tree next to the house, sleeping in tents, and on, and on, and on. Thanks for taking time to visit my memories.

PS the car is a 1970 Ford Maverick; I had it while I was going to technical school.

GREAT post, Dan!!
Oh-Oh! Is that a "Maverick" your with in the one picture!? :icon_scratch:

This is definitely one of the best posts I have ever read on treasurenet. It was very sweet of you to share your trip down memory lane with us. I was so excited to see that you found something so special to you while you were there. I have often thought of going and asking permission to hunt the farm I grew up on.....hoping to find something special just as you have. Thanks again for sharing the trip!

Great story! I also see in your picture with your Grandmother and sisters that your right pant leg is rolled up higher than the left. Do you remember why? It might have been the same reason my friends and I did it also.......to keep our right pants leg out of the bicycle chain! Those hand me down bikes never seemed to have have chain guards! I had forgotten about that until I read your story and saw the picture.

Thanks for taking me back.
