Detector(s) used
Whites MXT
With the MD bug. I bought my Whites MXT about 2 years ago and went out a few times in the spring of 2004.

I found a few common coins and a lead toy Indian. Then I lost interest.

Over the last 2-3 months I've been reading this site and others. Mostly this site and I see where you all go out in the cold weather to MD. My first thought was you were all CRAZY. ;D

Well yesterday evening I decided I was going to go out myself. So I got the MXT out, cleaned all the dust off it and read thru the manual.

This morning at 9:00 I went to the play area in my apartment complex. It's a mulch bed with a slide, swing set, monkey bar thingie and a bench to sit on.

It felt like I was their about 45 minutes to an hour. But it was 2 hours.

I had the disc. set low since thats what you all say to do. Right?

My finds were as follows.

A handful of pull tabs and other assorted junk.

57 Lincoln Pennies

3 Jefferson Nickles

3 Dimes clad

4 Quarters clad

1 Car wash token

1 Large, One Cent coin from Canada dated 1916.

1 Sterling silver ring with a turquoise setting.

I will try to attach pics.

Yep, a day of finds like these and you're definitely infected. The bad news is, there is NO cure! :P The good news is, there's a great way to treat the symptoms....get out there and detect!! LOL

Nice finds and welcome back to the hobby (addiction?? :P )

HH, ya'll!

hey Dan,
alot of ppl lose the interest in detecting fast because they dont find gold there first day or a hoard of old coins. but i also use an Mxt the i bought about 2 years ago. dont give up on the unit its a good one and not many places have seen its frequence because it is a fairly new item.

your right on the discrinmination, keep it set at about 1 and turn your gain as high as you can wile keeping the machine steady for maximum depth. also make sure that you are hunting in the ground mode on the toggle switch. next time you go out to hunt the small play area and there is a ton of trash flick your trigger forward and detect with it like that it seems to help... only in trashy areas. you usually want to hunt with it set at its normal mid point but flicking it forward helps and gives it that slight edge...

Hope i could be of some help HH lance

Nice finds, You probably are infected now! Tsgman

Dan,

welcome to the board and welcome back to the hobby.

Seems like you had a good day. Infected? Wait until
you go out with snow on the ground.

Nice haul today, and a carwash also.

have a good un...........

Thanks for all the nice replies.

My legs have been weak and wobbly since I was out this morning and I just figured out why.

In 120 minutes I did over 100 squats to dig up my finds. ;D

Bet I'm sore in the morning.

Daniel

You did good Daniel!

Great finds!!! Gotta love that MXT!

Looking forward to seeing your next finds! ;D

Glad you put the ole duster to the MXT......Now you won't be able to put it down.OH WELL!!!!!.Congrat's and keep diggin'

You just needed a reboot, thats all. Goes to show, everything you needed to know you learned in kindergarden, I'd assume hide and seek was one of our most favorite games. HIde it in the dirt and we'll find it.

Those are some really nice finds Daniel. And you're right, I never thought about the squatting action, I guess it is different for the gentleman, ladies are navigational pro's when it comes to squatting, public restrooms 101. pitch in the walking and we have one healthy hobby.

Hey Daniel,

We are all infected...me, you & a dog named Blue. Oops, I meant Yogi. ;)

HH :)

Welcome back. Nice finds... I think I stretched my knee a little too far out from Sundays digs. But that didn't stop me from going out for a few today after work. It was way too nice... I hardly notice the pain until I move. Anyway HH.

Very nice restart!! If your legs are sore tomorrow. Not to worry.
Cause the pain only lasts for days and days and days and days and days and days........ WTG!!! HH
