I found this thick, plow damaged, piece of aluminum this morning in a farm field in Southern Ontario. Upon closer inspection, I noticed it had writing around the border and the date 1864 on the edge. There is an old piece of felt glued to the back, but I have know idea what this might have been from or when it was made. :dontknow: I'm aware that there was originally a French 1864 20 Franc Gold Coin, I only wish this had been gold instead of aluminum! :laughing7:

The piece has the words Brivio, Italy stamped on the border.

Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks.

Dave

Don't feel too bad, quite some time ago I was up in Virginia with a couple of diggers at a get together before we went out on a dig. They kept talking about digging round civil war soldier ID tags. We went on our hunt and had been digging ringtail sharps bullets when I dug up a round crudded up brass disc. I'm out there kinda doing a chicken dance while trying to clean the disc and they are all giving me that SOB look. Turned out to be a 1904 St louis world's fair token.

the felt on the back would definitely lend itself to being a coaster

Thanks for making me feel better about my 'drink coaster' find Dug! :laughing7:
Congrats on your 1904 St Louis World's Fair Token find... I like to say, "Don't question it, just dig it"!

Best of luck to you,
Dave

I guess it would've helped if I had taken a closer look at the material with my jewelers loop a lot sooner! :icon_scratch:

The first text picture sure looked sweet, had the nice "dug" silver look to the piece.
